Handling The Difficulties Of Life

"The days of the blameless are known to the Lord, and their inheritance will endure forever. In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty."
Psalm 37:18-19

How we react to what befalls us says a lot about us.

Mike Maryn is perhaps the most versatile of all crime victims. As a resident of Passiac, New Jersey, over the course of five years he endured 83 muggings and was hospitalized 20 times. In achieving that record, he was knifed, shot at twice and bludgeoned with a metal pipe, lost several teeth, and was robbed of $2,000 in cash, several bags of groceries and four automobiles. According to newspaper reports, Passiac police offered Maryn a walkie-talkie as a quick way of summoning help, but he turned them down. "It would only be taken from me," he explained.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you endure the difficulties of life trusting in Him alone.

"Mishaps are like knives that either serve us or cut us as we grasp them by the blade or the handle."
~James Russell Lowell
"The secret of a good sermon is to have a good beginning and a good ending, then having the two as close together as possible."
~George Burns
