How can Mark Evans be a nobody?? I thought it was significant that he was 10, because then he could still be a wizard and not know yet (letter comes at 11 after all), and now... *sigh* I think I'm sticking with my Crookshanks prediction just because that the most fun. ^__^

Okay, my money's on Victor. I hope it's him, because I don't like him.

Interesting to have the information. I cannot say that I wish to participate in guessing about the identity of the secondary title characters. It'd be humorous if it wasn't anyone at all, and is more of an abstract concept.
You know... none of the Harry Potter titles have been very good (formulas... bleh). That isn't why I read them, of course. But I hope book 7 has a good title.

Yeah, I don't really like the titles. I'd say prisoner of Azkaban was the highlight. And that's a pretty low highlight. Halfblood prince certainly hasn't raised the bar. . .

Finding out who the half-blood prince is will be cool.
At the moment however, I'm more interested as to how the Chamber of Secrets will fit into the next two books.
Not to mention the mirror that Sirius gave to Harry in Book 5 that was never used...

Now, were the series to drop the "Harry Potter and" portion of the titles they would not necessarily be so bad. The one they truly ruined was the first book. In America the title is "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" which is nothing compared to the same title using the Philosopher's Stone. Do they think people in America are too stupid to get it?

I guess Scholastic figured "Surely no american would by a book with the word 'philosopher' in the title." It's sorta funny that they think the title actually affected wether we would buy it or not. "Harry Potter and ---" is truly an awful title. When it first came out, I didn't even know what it was and I thought "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Sounds cliche-ish."

No, it wouldn't be bad, but it would be predictable. I mean, main guy character gets together with the main girl character. The two smart characters who pretty much always get along end up getting together? Too easy. It's much more interesting when characters go from rather adament opposition to attraction. That's why I think they're setting up Mr. Weasley and Ms. Granger. (Also, it's sorta obvious by the time you've finished Goblet of Fire that Ron's really wishing Victor Krum would drop off the face of the earth. Wonder why?? *wink wink*)

If these books didn't span six years (which is how long the characters will have known eachother by the end of the next book), I would think it ridiculous too. But, I guess I don't find it too obsurd because you change so much from age 11 to age-- 16 or 17 (that's how old they'll be, right?). But that's just my thoughts on the matter.

I practially pulled my hair out in Goblet of Fire during Ron's coup. I don't think I could take an all out rebellion.
As for the "Will Harry die in the end" theory, I have two thoughts:
My first thought is that Harry will die but he'll come back by some incredible means.
My second thought is that Harry won't die because of some sort of intervention by Neville Longbottom. My money's on Neville being the savior and vanquisher of Voldy in the end. Just my theory.

There's where I disagree with you. Unless there's some obvious reason, one the reader will sympathize with, that Ron splits with Harry, then I think it would just be redundant. As I sited in my post. Goblet of Fire. Insane, jealous Ron. Been there. Done that. Time to move on.

These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

That's an original idea; Ron turning against Harry. I actually like it. The rivalry between them in Goblet of Fire was annoying, in my opinion, but straight-out emnity would be a very interesting plot twist. Even though I do love Harry and Ron's friendship, Ron's sidekickness gets to me sometimes. Maybe it could work if Ron was under the Imperius Curse?
