Vic Mignogna Addresses some of the Nasty Rumors about him.

As you might know, Vic is an anime voice actor and an outspoken Christian. He was on CAA chat once or twice. You also might know that some people have spread some pretty terrible and mean rumors about him. In this panel, Vic addresses some of the rumors and shows how baseless they are.

Edit: For those that don't want to watch the vids. Some of the rumors include such things that Vic is extremely homophobic, that he hates his fans, that he's incredibly aggressive and mean to Yaoi fangirls, etc. All of these are untrue. He's a really nice guy. Like he said in the vid, some voice actors just do 60 minute signings, then leave. He stays around. He wouldn't do that if he didn't care about his fans. Other than his mom, he doesn't really have a family. He doesn't have kids. He says he kind of thinks of his fans as part of his family.

Oh I remember this! I love this panel so much. Vic is such a cool guy, and it was interesting to learn what rumors were false, and find out more true things about him.

I watched about 7 out of the 9 vids and it really was a great panel.

Yes, these rumors are not true. I've been to a previous convention where he was a guest and he said the exact same things he said in those vids.

He's a wonderful Christian VA and I do love his work. I hope the best for him.

And to show how kind and giving he is, I remember he talked to my dad and I for 10 minutes between panels about his Christian walk and about one of his Christian cds. He's most certainly a wonderful person.

Quite a lot actually. Most of them were started on cosfu as well as a few other places. They range from ludicrous such as him suing a hotel because someone slipped yaoi under his door to him fondling teenage girls. Of course, these were all troll comments that got passed off as truth.

Only the first four to five videoes are about rumors. The other vids make up the Q an A period.

Cosfu, huh? That tells me how much credibility those rumors have. Cosfu is literally one of the worst sites on the Internet, I'd rather go to <modsnip: CAA doesn't allow the mention of this particular site as it could include offensive information to some of our members./> than visit there. The negativity about that place is unbelievable.

I think the reason Vic gets such nasty rumors is because he's a Christian. There are a lot of atheists and yaoi fans and even fellow voice actors who hate him because of this. It's a shame, because he is one of the nicest guys on the con circuit.

Right I do see what you mean. What I am worried about more is that people, who do not go to this site, could take this thread out of context and make it turn into more rumors about Vic or whoever and then they post that "Well, this is what members of CAA think about Mignogna and they're Christians, so it must be true!"


Remember, that's what trolls do and they won't stop at the chance.


However, I haven't seen anything that really could be perverted too much so I think we are doing alright with the discussion.

Yeah, a friend of mine once said she didn't like Vic because she heard he "fondled" a girl in an elevator or something. I was like, "Say what?"

Also, when we were watching FMA Brotherhood at Anime Up-All-Night, I heard some guys next to may say "Worst voice actor EVER!" about Vic. I just don't get where all the hate is coming from. He's a really good actor, and his panels are great. I think they should give the guy a break.

Vic is an awesome guy. He was at a three day con here last year and he was hanging out with fans the whole time. He even did a Sunday service that weekend.

I disagree, with Vic being in too many animes. Although, I haven't seen all the animes he's dubbed. Although, I will say that certain characters don't suit him as much as others. I think he made an amazing Tamaki & Edward Elric.

And I definitely think Crispin Freeman needs to be in more shows, because most of the ones he's in I can't watch, because I don't like the content.

But also, there have been many Japanese VAs as well that have done numerous shows, especially Seki Tomokazu & Koyasu Takehito. But I never get tired of hearing their voices. I think it depends on the person and if you like their voice or not. If you don't, then sure... You will get tired of hearing them.

Also, I think it's fair to add that there hasn't been a lot of English VAs, or at least not as nearly as many as there are Japanese VAs. So it makes sense that he would get a good amount of VA jobs. Not to mention he loves his job. So factoring all those things in. It makes sense that he would have so many roles.

One last thing, I think Kirk Thornton has the most English dubs roles, ever. Just sayin. At least in shows from 2006 and previous.

I LOVE Vic Mignogna!! He is such a great role model, because he is such a sweet guy. I also didn't know that there were rumors about him until I watched that video of him denouncing those nasty rumors. When I heard some of that, I almost cried because he tries SO hard to make his fans happy.

I have never met the guy before, nor have I been to an anime con, but I have heard that he's a real cool guy and I do like his voice acting. He plays some of my favorite characters and some really funny characters. I have never heard any of these bad rumors until now and I honestly think the people that don't like him simply because he's a Christian and he doesn't like yaoi is just riddiculous. I even heard people on Gaia complaining that he didn't do a certain role or something because simply because of his beliefs. (Years ago) How simple minded and ignorant can people be? It would be okay if they just didn't like his voice acting. That's understandable. I have no doubt in my mind that those people only hate because he's a Christian and I find that so pathetic. I'm sure this guy works hard and doesn't deserve the disrespect he's getting.

Anime fan rumors are usually super obvious for example "Such and such is gonna have a big budget live action movie next year, The guy who told me knows a guy who knows another guy that speaks Japanese and got leaked info" or "Such and such voice actor did this horrible thing I heard! although I wasnt there and its not on tape or anything"
