Volume 2 of every series because you can never find it when you go to the book store (unless it's Naruto or Bleach). Volume 2 tends to continue the awesomeness of volume 1, so I like it. No specific series comes to mind, though. Maybe Azumanga Daioh or .hack//legend.

Hmm. Rurouni Kenshin 27 comes to my mind, for that page where Enishi just keeps telling Kenshin to "Die! Die! Die...!"

Volume 1 of "Rising Stars of Manga." Probably because I was just thrilled to see so much OEL work of that quality. And I STILL wish that the Grand Prize winner had gone on to make a series out of the story. I thought it was the individually most original OEL Manga idea I've ever run across.

If you disqualify that for being OEL, then... I dunno, I guess I'll go with Volume 1 of "Ranma 1/2". I doubt I will ever laugh that much in the course of one volume of manga again. Although Yotsuba #1 came close.

It's a tie between volume 4 of Gensoumaden Saiyuki and volume 1 of Saiyuki Reload. Both equally amazing with their funny-ness! YAY!

I haven't really read enough to say, but so far volume 7 of Death Note was great.

This isn't my favorite volume of all time, by any means, but it stands out in its context. The series is Bleach, and the volume is 20. Plot twists turn a multi-volume string of fights that was getting tiresome into a more meaningful set of events that were obviously planned from the start. From this volume on I gained serious interest in Bleach as more than average shonen.
