Oy. Suffered with braces and retainers for several years (and this after 13 extractions and two dental surgeries). I feel, or rather felt, your pain. Prayers, natch.

I have experienced it, as well, so I definitely feel for you. I'll pray.

Get ready for a grueling few years with pain--not so much from the braces themselves, but from the soreness when you try to eat crunchy foods. I've got braces right now, so the memories of when I first got them are still pretty fresh. The first day I made the big mistake of trying to eat normally, since I didn't feel any pain yet. At first it was gross; the food would lodge between the brackets, and since I wasn't used to them yet I couldn't tell what was food under my lip or a bracket. After a few hours my bottom lip had been rubbed VERY raw. (To avoid this, I highly recommend putting a strip of wax across the front of the bottom brackets for the first few days.) I was miserable the rest of that week. It's like having a toothache on all of your teeth at once! I'll pray that your teeth cooperate so that you'll get the braces off as quickly as possible.

DON'T get braces... try to get Invisalign. I have some on right now and they are so awsome.

Ack! I'm jealous!! I wanted to get Invisalign, but my orthodontist said my teeth were too crowded. It would've been WAY more expensive to have them, though, not cheaper!
