A beginner anime lover needs some help. :P

Okay, so I'm finishing up the Full Metal Alchemist anime series, and I'm trying to think of what to watch next, but I'm somewhat stumped. My fav animes so far have been things like FMA (Which I really, really did like), Escaflowne, Howl's Moving Castle, and Naruto's pretty cool too. However, what I'd love right now is an anime like FMA and 'Flowne except with a, well, a happy ending. No one permenantly seperated, and maybe (just maybe) the couples (if there are any) getting together in the end? Yes, I'm a hopeless romantic, who needs cheering up after the end of FMA. *wistful sigh* Does such a thing exist? Any suggestions would be absolutely wonderful. Thanks in advance!!

Cowboy Bebop is an AMAZING series with an amazing ending, but not the type of ending you're looking for... I'd suggest watching it anyways XD;;

Let's see... Scrapped Princess has a good ending and a great plot twist.

Full Moon wo Sagashite is really good. You might want to check that one out for a happy ending.

umm that'll be good to start you off I think...

An anime with a happy ending? This is gonna be tricky. Most of the very good ones tend to have a sad, tragic or semi-sad ending. I enjoyed Cowboy Bebop (still my favorite) and Bleach (no 3 on my list, right after FMA). If you want something that is kinda like FMA or Escaflowne you could try Scrapped Princess. Mai-Hime wasn’t bad either (be warned: it does have quite a bit of fanservice). And of course: Rurouni Kenshin (TV series and Samurai X OVA’s) was great.

There are many more of course, but it all depends on what kind of anime you like. I like almost anything (almost), but those are a few that I would recommend.
But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith-- that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

Thanks a lot guys! I'll look into these. :) Yeah, I know animes of this sort with happy endings are rare, and I'm most certainly not going to just watch "happy ending" types (FMA and Escaflowne are my favorite animes so far, I love them), I was just thinking for my next one a bit of a more cheery type would be nice. Thanks again!

While there are some titles that have "happy endings" they tend to be few and far between. While I do like a happy ending, I've learned to be satisfied with a series that has good closure. A few that I would recommend:

Figure 17
Kaliedo Star and it's sequel Kaliedo Star: New Wings
Azumanga Daioh
Angelic Layer
Chance Pop Session
Fruits Basket
Last Exile
Petite Princess Yucie
Princess Nine
Pretear
ROD TV
Stellvia

I agree with KawaiikNeko on Full Moon wo Sagashite, and I'll also suggest Rurouni Kenshin--it's great for the hopeless romantics who also want a little shounen-style action in their anime. XD

Oh, I see that Boersun has already suggested Kenshin. XD Still, I'll suggest the manga (as it has a far better ending than the anime), and I'll also say that you should only watch the Samurai X OVA's when you've had your fill of happy endings and you're ready for a real tear-jerker. XD

Record of Lodoss War!! Go with that one! It has a happy ending. You should also check out .hack//sign, which has a very good story and ending. You could also try .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet, but the ending isn't the best in the world and is very disappointing, but besides that it is a good anime.

An anime like Escaflowne or Fullmetal Alchemist except with a happy ending? Well, what do you define as a happy ending? Personally, I thought both series ended very well. Bittersweet is my choice of words for the endings of both. Especially Escaflowne. Ah... parting is such sweet sorrow.

I'll recommend Full Metal Panic!, Eureka Seven, and Fruits Basket (for a little variety) to you. I'm sure you'd enjoy both as both a beginner anime fan and a hopeless romantic (I'm one too! ^^)

I'll be the sixth or seventh person to recommend Cowboy Bebop - it was my first, and I probably would have never gotten into anime if it wasn't for it. And I'm finding that it actually gets better with multiple viewings.

Trigun, as well, is a great series.

Angelic Layer might be one you'd be interested in as well.

First, I'd really suggest you read the FMA manga. Longer, and much, much better overall.

Cowboy Bebop is good, but I'm not sure it's what you're looking for if you want a 'happy' ending (or so I've heard; I haven't quite finished yet).

Others have made good suggestions, and if you're looking for something to really pick you up, I'd really suggest (as usual) One Piece (the original; PM if you want to know more). It's a fun series with a good, epic plot, original characters, and a good mix of humour, action, drama (some, but enough to really depress you or anything Xp ), and adventure. It's pretty long, which can be something both good and bad for you: bad, since it takes awhile to catch up, but good as there's plenty of stuff thoughout. It hasn't ended yet, but there's just a big overall light-hearted, "feel good" kind of tone that I really like about it (and don't worry if the art turns you off; it gets better later, anyways ;D ).

Actually the bebop ending is kinda for the veiwer to decide it ends and lets the veiwer decide what happens at the end whether
Spike lives or dies personally i still think he is alive
