Deadsy

Anyone heard of them? I just saw them live with a bunch of other bands including 10 Years and Dir en grey.

They're... interesting. They sound like what you'd get if you mixed Duran Duran (musically) with Marilyn Manson (vocally).

But don't let that turn anyone off. They rock, and are nowhere near as bad as Manson is.

I enjoy Deadsy. Some of their music has stuff that people might find offensive, though, such as two f-words (even though they are edited) in 'The Key To Gramercy Park', some mentions of The Urantia Book (I'm not so sure what that is myself), a little sexual content in 'She Likes Big Words', and allusions to a book called 'Dune', which I have not read. So you may want to do some research before looking into their first album, 'Commencement.'

Tomorrow, 'Phantasmagore,' their new album, will be released. It's been so long in the making, I can hardly wait ^^

If you go to their myspace, you can listen to a few of their better songs on the player, you can listen to 'The Key To Gramercy Park', 'Book of Black Dreams', and 'Razor Love' (the latter two are on Phantasmagore, Key is on Commencement). I will warn, though, that 'Key To Gramercy Park' on their myspace player is the unedited version.

I like them. I had a live track on my computer for a while of Deadsy singing with Cher. You do know, the lead singer is Chers son right?

Yep. His stage name is Phillips Exeter Blue I, but his real name is Elijah Blue Allman. I *believe* the song you're talking about is Crimson and Clover, but I'm not totally sure. It could have been Anti-Pop. I have one song from a live show they did, where as an intro, they played the Imperial March from Star Wars. I get really giddy whenever I hear it ^^

On a side note, Phantasmagore came out to day AND IT'S AWESOME! I've listened to it 3 times all the way through, and my favorite song is 'Time', which was previously called 'Sands of Time'... I need to find some lyrics for it, since I think it might have some PoP references to it. Chorus:

Do you believe in the sands of time?
They bring us back in reverse, rewind.
Yes, I believe in the sands of time,
'Cause now they got me feeling like the world is mine.

Just makes me wonder, since in PoP you have an ability called Rewind. >.> Or maybe I'm just overanalyzing it all.

But all in all, Phantasmagore is a great album... if you like Deadsy, I'd recommend it. It does have a couple of f-words in it, though. Just a warning.

Yeah, Deadsy has a number of unreleased demos. Crimson and Clover, Anti-pop, as well as a few others whose names I forgot... Seems like I dont' have Crimson and Clover, however.
