Christian Music Rec???

Postby shojoiscool2 » Fri Aug 25, 2006 4:47 am

I would love to start listening to some Christian music but most of it leaves me bored or disinterested. I don't like the style of Rock that is popular now.

The only bands I have found that I liked are Zoe Girl and Out of Eden. Could anyone recommend me some people who might have a similar sound?

Thanks

Check out my Gothic and Industrial radio station at http://www.shoutcast.com/directory/?s=Seraphim+radio and see if any of my Christian artists are to your liking. I really tried to to include Christian artists with talent in the gothic rock, darkwave, Industrial, and synthpop genres, and you might like it. Of course, I have a mixture of secular music too, but I tried to keep it pretty clean (with a sparse few songs with swear words for suitably extreme situations like lamenting brutal imperialism). Since I have about 23 hours of programming, the longer you stick around, the more different music and artists you may like.

I can't think of anything that sounds like Out of Eden and I've never heard Zoe Girl. But if you like female vocalists, you should try Jennifer Knapp, especially her Kansas album.

Hm....ZoEgirl, huh? Well...they came out back when artists like Britney Spears were popular, which is part of the reason for their sound...a lot of artists came out around the same time, and some are still around.

One band I really liked was V*enna, but they're not around anymore. You might still be able to find their CD, though.

Um...let's see. I'm trying to think of other artists with a similar sound. XD Well, you might like Rachael Lampa. She has more of a 'dramatic vocal' sound, but some of her stuff is similar to Zoegirl (she's one of the artists that came out during the time period I mentioned). You also might like Nicole C. Mullen. Her music style is something like a mix of R&B, Funk, and...country? Not quite sure how to put it, but...since you like Out of Eden, you might like her.

Definitely try Rachael Lampa, and I would check out Krystal Meyers(a little more on the girlypunk side). Bethany Dillon is really great(she has a country feel, but it's not overwhelming). If you like R&B, Nicole C. Mullen is excellent along with MaryMary(their Thankful album is good).
