This one sure has been swept under the carpet, and yes, it has been mentioned before. Regarding a TV forum, why not make "In the Spotlight" a place to discuss TV as well? Just a thought. As far as a book forum goes, that sounds like a good idea.

I agree about making the "In the Spotlight" forum for TV also...since the topics are so much alike, I don't really see any reason to have two different forums...:) So that should work out well.

I second (third? fourth?) the book forum idea as well. :thumb:

Off topic: No, you are not on her ignore list, Ashley is just pulling her hair out with school. Today is the first day I have left the school parking lot before 6:30 all week long, on top of my regular homework, which takes at least 1-2 hours. O.o

On topic: I second the motion of putting tv stuff in with the movie forum. Book forum we can probably dole out too, I suppose.

Cool. A book forum would be great.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Neil Postman
(The End of Education)

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge
