Remember the old Christian Anime from Japan!?

Postby Casull » Mon Jul 24, 2006 10:48 pm

I was wondering… did any of you get into the Christian anime as kids? I remember one about a flying house and another with a computer that would put some kids in the Bible times… did any of you ever watch them? and if you know where I can get them tell me!!!

I remember the Flying House, though I never actually saw it, but I don't remember one with a computer that put kids in Bible times. I do, however, remember Superbook. Superbook WAS the Bible, but it was able to send the kids back into Bible times to teach them stuff. That show was great! I was lilke 8 or 10 when it was out, and I still own a couple of the videos.

That site up above has some awesome stuff on it, including episode clips!
Yay Superbook!

Note: Wikipedia's site says that Series II was the Personal Computer Travel Detectives. I guess that's what you remember? I guess I was too old by the time that one came out... :waah!:

Yeah, those are pretty sweet.. I watched them some as a little kid, and now my little sisters watch the video tapes.. Which means I'll have an easier time getting them to watch anime when they're older.. (^_^)

Our SkyAngel network plays them sometime, but I'm not a fan. At all. When we first started noticing them my parents and siblings kinda mocked me on it, like "Hey look, it's anime!" I took one look and just said "No thanks." >_>

I watched those anime when I had no idea what anime was at all. I remember going to a friend's house and seeing an episode on Cain and Able.

I grew up on those shows. Good stuff.
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)

Never came to Australia so I've never seen them, but there was popular Bible Adventures cartoon made by Hanna Barberra. It involved several teens going back in time and experiencing some of the events found in the Bible. Can't remember what it was called though.

Yup, "The Greatest Adventure: Stories From The Bible".

But it's not in Wikipedia.

I used to watch the second Superbook series on TV, and older episodes, along with the Hanna Barbera videos, were shown to us constantly in Sunday school. (For some reason, we watched the one with Esther a whole lot. I even remember dialogue still: "Car? Watch?")

Didn't Vic Mignogna say something on his website about new Superbook episodes being made?
