Who do you like in Section 9? I was going to make a poll, but screwed up. I'll try again tomorrow.

I somewhat like the Major's character and part of me is always rooting for Togusa, but neither of them is my favorite. That designation definitely goes to Ishikawa. Not only do I like his personality and general style, he has a beard.

I've seen very little, but from what I've seen, Togusa is my favorite. I guess he just seens the most "average" to me . . . the one I most relate to. That, and he carries a revolver in a cyberpunk series, which is pretty cool in and of itself. Second would have to be Batou. He's cool. I saw the episode where he punches the guy out in the bathroom and drags him through a hole in the wall . . . his grin was priceless.

I'm going with Togusa... because, even without the enhancements that everybody else has, he can still take on almost anybody.

Have to go with the Major.I mean she is the main character and all,but also is the one who keeps everything going.IMO Section 9 isn't Section 9 without her.

What, no Ishikawa? Or is only his other name listed?

In any case, I need to merge this thread with the other one. I'll also clean up the second thread.

The main reason I like Togusa was that ep when he was on trial this season. I felt as though if I were in his shoes, I probably would've reacted the same way he did when he saw that girl being beat up. Yeah, I probably would've shot that guy too. And even as a Christian I'd still be OK, because God overlooks self-defense, according to what I learned in Sunday School.

Togusa is the easiest member of Section 9 to identify with. He's completely natural aside from his cyberbrain, and his preference for the outdated revolver is another appealing anachronism in the alien futuristic world GitS throws at the viewer. He's a family man, with a wife and baby, while most of the rest of S9 has no virtually no personal life outside their jobs we ever see. He's quiet, competent and professional without being an iceman. Togusa is the "everyman" character.

Togusa is definitely everyman. His inclusion is most likely to draw in the viewers who may not be hard-core sci-fi fans but pick up the show because they like cop dramas. Togusa would be the character they identify with and his presence in the cast has probably widened the show’s fan base. Whether his inclusion was intentional for this purpose or not, who knows, but I think it definitely works out that way.

All that said, I like Togusa and the Tachikomas, but my favorite would still have to be the major. That’s actually kind of odd for me. I rarely pick the show’s main character as my favorite.

I noticed that several of those listed haven't really had any real emphasis on the show as yet which is why they haven't got any votes.Saito had one episode the entire second season, but mostly it's been the Major,Batou,Togusa,Aramaki,Ishikawa and the Tachikomas as per the first season.
In other words the usual suspects.
