I have. I had a friend who was crazy into all kinds of satanic black metal and whatnot (his favorites were Cradle of Filth and Deicide if I remember correct...). I never really liked The Berserker (he kind of forced them on us once or twice). Though I did think the mention of the band in 'Clerks' the movie was pretty cool.

My friend deleted some of their stuff off his mp3 player recently because he read the lyrics.

Correct. He found himself deleting quite a few bands off his mp3 player recently actually. Dimmu Borgia being another culprit. Thats the problem with black metal 'shakes fist at Danni Filth'

hahaha

It's Dimmu Borgir, and Dani Filth is in Cradle of Filth. Neither of the bands are that good. However, Cradle of Filth isn't satanic, and they're not black metal either. They're extreme gothic metal.

Dani Filth is in Cradle of Filth

I know. Perhaps I should mention when I switch which band I'm talking about. And I've heard people argue that Cradle of Filth aren't Black Metal before but from what I understand (and I researched on the net before writing this) black metal is a form of extreme metal which is influenced by either pagan, occult, satanic or anti-christian imagery or lyrics. And if I'm not mistaken, Cradle of Filths lyrics, song titles and album covers are very much pagan/occult. That sounds like Black Metal to me (even if they are fairly popular). If they're not, I'll eat an H.P Lovecraft novel.

As for Dimmu, I couldn't remember how to spell their name...probably because I don't listen to them.

I'll agree with DrNic here, as well. The same guy I knew who likes the Berzerker likes (loves is probably a better word, though) Cradle of Filth and has practically every cd and single they've ever released, and I'll say that they do look pretty pagan. Plus, he always referred to Cradle as black metal. Considering that they're like, his favorite band, I'd say he wouldn't go around parading information he wasn't right about.

But all that aside, I see this thread developing into some sort of debate, so let's not let that happen, okay? Believe me - I know how easy it is to get into an argument about music. I fight with my brother about it all the time. But this is *not* the place.

Yeah sorry about that :S I guess I took the "hahaha" bit kinda personally. No harm done though, I could be wrong in my take on BM as I'm not a fan of it myself 'offers hand of mutual agreement to Eric' :)

There are a lot of people who consider Cradle of Filth to be their favorite band that don't know anything about black metal whatsoever. Mostly mall goths. They listen to them for the image and because it makes them feel 'rebellious,' the same reason why most people listen to Slipknot. Their look is only a gimmick to get people to buy their music. I mean serioiusly, what self-respecting black metal band would ever sign to Roadrunner Records.... :eyeroll:

Anyways, those bands are too crappy to be worth talking about any more, so I'm done here.

Cradle of Filth - totally agree with.

Speaking of metal, I've been browsing your list of christian bands - Symphony In Peril have a very...interesting album name and album cover @_@
