MasterDias is correct.

Blewin: I refer to the manga alone, as I have yet to see the anime. I'm relatively certain his last name is Touya. We'll see how he acts when he plays versus Sai the second time... but the first time he was really nice.

Ruroken: Well, I do consider myself to be sarcastic, though generally not negatively. I would consider it either coincidence or catalyst that you always seem to be around when I'm at my dryest. But what sarcasm are you referring to in this thread?

Actually, I'm not capable of commenting on the later stages of the manga. I was referring to the fact that his role is nothing more than prodigy-that-Sai-beats. Just a plot device to show how good Sai is.

Manga wise, it has ended. That I'm very sure....I'm only not sure which volume though. Twenty something....27?

partly true u c, Touya is there to get the plot moving for he's also the goal that Hikarus is aiming at. There are many players in the anime that can easily take Touya's 'Sai is This good' role.

Out of curiosity, is there anyone as good or better than Sai? Other than that one guy in Sai's own era, of course.

I have a question of my own for anyone who knows.

Do the characters grow older as the series progresses?

I was watching one of the later opening animations and Hikaru and the other characters look older, somewhere in the teens.

I wiped one of your extra posts, Master Dias. Blewin, you seem to know more about the later parts of the series: does Akira play a greater role later on (that is, does he not just disappear?)?

Hikaru no go is one of my favorite mangas, well the parts I've read of it anyway. I can't remember exactly up to what chapter I've read, but there used to be a site that had scanlations of it before Shonen Jump started printing it. I've never seen the anime though. Does it follow the manga pretty well?

I don't have the answer...but I noticed the characters look older/more mature in the manga as well.

I have no idea whether they actually grow older or whether it's just the artstyle. 0.o
