Adult Swim: Have it your way!

Postby Doe Johnson » Sat Mar 04, 2006 11:15 pm

I'm not sure if there has ever been a post about this, but I just thought about it when the commercial came on a second ago. The Burger King sponsored "Have it your way" contest has started again. This is the contest where one person is randomly chosen to schedule Adult Swim for a night. So...

If you could program the schedule for Adult Swim for one night, what would it be?

This can of course include shows other than anime (thus the reason I didn't list it under anime), so could include the comedy section. I'd appreciate specifics on episodes such as number/title. Remember to stay within the shows Adult Swim has shown before and the AS time slot!

It would include a 4 hour set of Bobobobo Bo Bobo repeated once after the first time.

I'd of course pack in as much as I could, so wouldn't have repeats. I'm also not sure if they can still show all of these shows since I know nothing about those sorts of things, but this is an IF question.

My Adult Swim Schedule:
Anime!! Anime!! Anime!!
1st Hour: Pilot Candidate: First and Last episodes - Because I didn't get to see either
2nd Hour: Cowboy Bebop: Session 5 - Ballad of Fallen Angels and Session 11 - Toys in the Attic
3rd Hour: Trigun: Episode 4 - Love and Peace and Episode 17 - Rem Saverem
4th Hour: Samurai Champloo: Episodes 16 and 17 - Lullabies of the Lost
5th Hour: Fullmetal Alchemist: Episode 9 - Be Thou for the People and Episode 13 - Fullmetal vs. Flame
6th Hour: Outlaw Star: Haven't decided which episodes yet

I tried to put a little variety in it, but I'm not sure how well I did.

I know it doesn't have to be anime but if possible I'd pick all the first episodes of anime that have screened in the US but not in New Zealand in order to introduce new series over here.

Otherwise, I'd probably do a lineup with all anime... I haven't watched a whole heap of Adult Swim so in this hypothetical situation I'd ask for a list of all the programs they've ever screened to pick from. ;)

1st hour & 2nd hour: Full Metal Alchemist: Flame vs. Metal and the rest could be random.

3rd & 4th hour: Rouroni Kenshin : the first 4 episodes.

5th hour: Trigun: the first 2 episodes.

6th hour: Inuyasha: the first 2 episodes.

I'd be in total heaven on earth for six continuous hours if that ever happened. XD

Why must we be abandoned in times of need?
Do others not see when we yearn for their touch;
An insatiable hunger only they can feed.
Left alone with out their words – fallen into darkness.
Stumbling blindly without their light,
We fall and scream, knowing we've faced too much,
Knowing the only answer is flight.
Flight from the lives we once faced
And the joys and terrors others have brought.
Our time with them, a time of joy and life,
Wonder we all, was it for naught?

Here are some of my ideas:
1.A Marathon of the first three Inuyasha movies:
10-12:Inuyasha:Affections Touching Across Time
12-2:Inuyasha:The Castle Beyond The Looking Glass
2-4:Inuyasha:Swords Of An Honorable Ruler(ok,the times are based on a normal two hour length movie)
2.Rumiko Takahashi Marathon:
11-12 Inuyasha
12-1 Ranma 1/2
1-2 Usurei Yatsura
2-3 Maison Ikkoku
(ok so they don't show the other three but dontcha love the idea of an all
night Rumiko Takashai marathon?)
3.Ok,getting back to earth and being more reasonable:
11:00 Inuyasha
11:30 Rurouni Kenshin
12:00 Samurai Champloo
12:30 Samurai Jack
1:00 Outlaw Star
1:30 Neon Genesis Evangelion
2:00 Cowboy Bebop
4.Final idea:Vault Adult Swim based on Disney Channel's old Vault Disney where
you take old shows that haven't been shown in awhile and air them:
11:00 Pilot Candidate
11:30 Outlaw Star
12:00 Big O
12:30 Gundam Wing
1:00 Gundam Seed

I know not all of those shows were on AS, but I do like the vault idea. I really loved the Disney Vault, they showed Zorro at like midnight...that was so awesome...

My idea:
Each day would be themed after a different genre.
Sundays: Comedy
NO STUPID AMERICAN CARTOONS! Except Futurama, Family Guy and reruns of MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch
The anime that would be shown:
  • Azumanga Daioh!
  • Please Teacher
  • Excel Saga
  • Ranma 1/2 (UNCUT!)

Mondays: Romance
  • Maisson Ikkoku
  • Kimagura Orange Road
  • Tenchi Muyo (all versions)
  • Banner/Crest of the Stars
Tuesdays: Fantasy
  • Record of Lodoss War
  • .hack//sign
  • El Hazard
  • Full Metal Alchemist
  • Scrapped Princess

Wednesdays: Action
  • Noir
  • Gunslinger Girls
  • Madlax
  • Gunsmith Cats
Thursdays: Sci-Fi
  • Cowboy Bebop
  • Ghost in the Shell: SAC
  • Android Kikaider the Animation
  • Fafner
Fridays: Horror/Suspense:
  • Paranoia Agent
  • Spiral
  • Boogiepop Phantom
  • Pet Shop of Horrors

Saturdays would have a movie every week.
Actually this is just an example of how it might work. I just put in shows that would fit the themes that were listed.
So, how about that? Some variety for once!

Actually, I don't really want there to be something I want to watch on television constantly, as I have better things to do with most of my time. My biggest preference would probably simply be having some anime every night from 10-12 instead of later than that. Otherwise... probably fill everything else in with Futurama and Robot Chicken; just in case I have a few extra minutes, I suppose.
