Bush

Ah, Bush, they happen to be one of my favourite bands of all time, definitely in my top five.

The best way to describe them is like a British Nirvana, except they're not awful like Nirvana. : P

They came out around 1994, with their first album "Sixteen Stone." They lost a bit of steam with their next album, Razorblade Suitcase, although having some good songs, it just wasn't as good as the original. Next was a weird album known as "Deconstructed", which was actually just electronic remixes of their other songs. In 1999 they'd release "The Science of Things", using some electronica mixed into their post-grunge rock sound. It had a few excellent tracks, but again didn't really match their first effort.

Finally, in 2001, Bush released their final album, "Golden State." This being a return to the sound of Sixteen Stone. While a really fantastic album, the record company didn't promote it much and it didn't sell very well.

The band never really "broke up" or anything, just went on hiatus for a while. Unfortunately they're still on hiatus, but the lead singer, Gavin Rossdale, created a new band known as Institute, with the lead guitarist of the band Helmet. Last year they released their first album "Distort Yourself." It's good, and has Gavin's signature nonsensical lyrics.

So after that long block of text, are there any other Bush fans around? And if so, what songs are your favourite?

Bad lyrics meaning profanities, or just bad writing?

Because I know a few Bush songs have some minor profanities, but nothing much.

Of course, Gavin Rossdale sucks at writing lyrics most of the time.

Not Bad Writing, just some weird stuff like "There is no sex in your violence".

Haha, you have to understand what that song is about. "Everything Zen" is a sarcastic commentary on the society we live in, hence that lyric. It's not advocating sex or violence. Listen to the other lyrics, they're about things like obesity, and extravagent living.

If anyone'd like to listen to some music by this group, you can IM me at vortekks.
