That's kind of hard to judge. With all the joint efforts, all of these companies have produced both good and lame anime.

For example, Gainax produced some good stuff... Nadia, Wings of Honneamise and Otaku no Video come to mind. But they also inflicted Mahoromatic and Oruuchuban Ebichu and FLCL on us.

Bandai has to apologize for their contribution to creating Lodoss TV

Madhouse has done some truly good and truly foul stuff.

So I think I'd have a hard time picking one that didn't balance out at "Meh" overall

J.C. Staff. Regardless of any blemishes on their record, they created Honey and Clover, and that makes them awesome.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

You left out ShoPro Entertainment, which made Hamtaro and InuYasha. But I voted for Ghibli.

tough choice - voted Studio Deen since they were responsible for a good number of series that I've enjoyed. Artistically, it'd probably go to Ghibli or Gainax, and Bones probably wouldn't have been a bad pick either. *shrugs*

It's a toss up between GAINAX, Production IG, and BONES.

Granted, GAINAX and Production IG have collaborated on numerous series' together.

Gonzo does *some* good stuff, but I mean, come on, look at half the episodes of Hellsing. That's some awful animation.

And I'm pretty sure Bee Train is part of Production IG.

I just happened to have voted for Madhouse. While I would have considered Gonzo for a favorite, I just thought that Madhouse is able to have astounding animation without trying to over-do it (like with Gonzo's sometimes misplaced usage for CGI).

Some of my favorite series (Cardcaptor Sakura and Gunslinger Girl) happened to have been animated by MH.

I think I'll make up my mind and say GAINAX, because they can do some amazing stuff on a really low budget.

A lot of it is art-direction. I don't care how great the animation is, with bland art-direction it's not impressive. Even the really well animated episodes of Trigun just didn't have very good art-direction.
