Weird anime associations

Postby Ingemar » Mon Jan 30, 2006 11:06 pm

Have you ever associated anime characters in non-sequitur positions? If you don't understand what I mean, I will give you some examples:

  • Imagining characters lip-synching or replacing singers in music videos (i.e. Hatori lip-synching to Seal's "Prayer for the Dying" vid instead of Seal himself)
  • Himura Kenshin as a bass player
  • Takuto as the main character of 24

And it gets worse. Having watched episodes of Fate/Stay Night, I imagine Saber as the lead guitarist to a band with a Chasidic Jew on rhythm guitar, a knight on bass, a "stereotypical 19th century East Indian" on drums and a vocalist who is too weird to describe. I am not making this up.

 I've once imagined Shinobu (Love Hina) and Rin (Inuyasha) being rappers.

I once dreamt that Hamtaro and crew were part of the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, if that's what you had in mind.

That is dead on, Mel.

I could sorta see Shinobu and Rin as rappers. On a slightly unrelated topic, I see there are quite a bit of Rins in anime-dom as there are quite a bit of Sakurae and Kagurae (sorry for the somewhat Latinized pluralization. And the American spelling).

Yeah, I would gather they're roughly the Japanese equivilant of the American Emily, Katie, and Sara[h].
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Hmmm. How about Miyuki and Natsumi (of You're Under Arrest) on NYPD Blue?

Ooo. Maybe not. Never mind.

*Rin is in the drivers seat of her car wearing a black sweatshirt and baggy black jeans, listeing to 50 Cent*

Rin: *turns around* Yo! Shinobu!

*Shinobu walks up to her "homegirl" wearing sunglasses, a red basketball jersey with a white T-Shirt underneath and blue baggy jeans*

Shinobu: Wat up, dawg?

Rin: Not much yaw. Jus' chillin' like a villian.

Shinobu: Word.

*sees Sesshomaru and Keitaro walking down the street*

Rin: Yo! Check out those guys!

Shinobu: Whoa! They're fine!

*Rin honks at them*

Rin: Hey fellas!

Shinobu: Over here!

*Sesshomaru and Keitaro roll their eyes*

Sesshomaru: Immature children...

Keitaro: You said it.

*Sesshomaru turns to see Keitaro*

Sesshomaru: Do I know you?

Keitaro: Uhhh...eep! *runs away*

I have also imagined Inuyasha and Kenshin being rockers. ^_^;

Well, I used to think of Ghinius, Shiro, and Eledore (08th Team) in a Nirvana-like band AS A JOKE. Ghinius is like Kurt, Shiro is like Krist, and Eledore is like Dave. Thankfully, I got over it, for it was too weird...

This may not be what you had in mind exactly, but a few years back there was a local headline: "No Need for Tax Cuts" Says Senator.

My first thought was "Tenchi Muyo goes to Washington"

!

My friend and I associate anime characters with food, just for fun, and for some reason we decided that "a piece of tempura shaped like a fetus" fit Minamoto Raikou from Tactics best.
