Hilfe!! (Help!!) Irksome problem on Firefox

Postby Bobtheduck » Thu Oct 20, 2005 10:44 pm

For some odd reason, while I'm on sites like Yahoo! with banner ads, they all come in GERMAN now... Also, for some odd reason, and much more annoying, if I try to go to http://www.google.com, it takes me instantly to http://www.google.de instead... How did that happen? How can I elliminate this problem? I was wondering if it was just Firefox, and I checked IE... It didn't happen on IE... Some setting or whatever was changed so that it detects me as being German when ads load and when Google loads?

Nope... Only lists English (even though I should have Japanese as a secondary one, unless they just load in Unicode)

I'd try downloading firefox again to clear up the issue, but it sounds like there may be a bigger issue at stake here. Have you checked for spyware lately? There may be a man-in-the-middle attacker which is causing google et. all to interprete your default language as german.

Isn't it also possible to set up your default language when installing Firefox, where it basically says which one you want to download?
