Your favorite Anime char of all time

Postby Niko » Wed Nov 26, 2003 5:54 am

I was just wondering what everyone's favorite anime character was. I don't watch too much, but i have to say mine is Ed from Cowboy Bebop (it think that's what she's from, I can't remember it's been a while). I also like Kenshin.

Kenshin is cool, that he is. :thumb:

My favorite anime character is Guts from the Berserk series.

My favorite "clean" anime character is Parn from Record of Lodoss War.

*pats Niko's head*

I have taught him well, no?

Hmm, trying to pick just one is really hard ... but I think it would probably be ... a toss-up between Iria or Spark from Lodoss.

I don't know if have really have a favorite character; I try not to get too attached to anyone else's created characters other than my own. (With that in mind, I've been trying to make The Traveller's Guide look somewhat anime-ish. Does Melody count? )

In terms of line for line entertainment value, I've gotta say Nibiki Tendo.

I have a couple...

My favorite "character" is the SDF-1 from the Robotech series.

Others include Lance, pilot of the Red Lion from Voltron, Colt from Saber Rider and Star Sherriffs (is there anybody that remembers this show?), and Ryu from Street Fighter.

Might as well throw in Jubei-Chan from Ninja Scroll (however I don't endorse watching this film because it is rough, he just happened to be a cool character).

Why, Vash the Stampede, the star of Trigun, of course. He's one of my favorite characters in all of fiction.

Though, Vash, what the heck are you doing in Minnesota? You're a desert-rat...like me. Aren't you a Stampede-cicle up there?

Hmm. My favorite characters are usually complex characters, ones that everything isn't on the surface. . .so I don't have one specific favorite.

Milly, Wolfwood, and Legato from Trigun are all favorites. Milly, because she appears (and most of the time is) really silly and almost stupid, but it's hinted that her silliness and stupidity, like Vash's, is only an act. Legato, because he's just such a conflicted character. . .pathetic yet powerful, evil yet convinced that he is doing the work of his Master and hence not evil. Wolfwood because he's also a conflicted character, with mixed motives, actions that can vary from good to evil. . .all of these characters are very interesting (especially for fanfic writers and amateur psychologists).

For other series, I like Ed from Cowboy Bebop (you got to wonder what's going on in her head), Roger from Big O (very complex. . .), and Haku from Spirited Away.

man... I think this has come up before, and i have no clue what I said, but...

At this second, just because of my mood, I'm quite fond of Lain's "Dad"... There are two characters that encompass that definition, I'm reffering to the "real" one... You'd think his character isn't that developed, but yet...

OOH, I like Spark too! ::purr:: Hmm, I don't know where to start either. Vash is awesome because he's not your typical hero. He's actually quite a dork sometimes, and that's what makes him so loveable! Tamahome and all the other bishounen from Fushigi Yugi will always be dear to me. Oh!! I have it! Keichi from "Oh my goddess!" He's such a sweetheart! Not very tall, manly, or skilled in the ways of self-defense, but he's honorable, kind, and a perfect boyfriend. I would marry a guy like him!

Or, you could have said to specify: The girl with the blue hair and the red eyes in my avatar! The freakiest Eva pilot of them all!

(No offense intended. I like Rei, too, just not as a favorite character).

no, i can't blame you, since most people if i don't tell them they think i'm a girl. until they figure it out for themselves.

i'm in same a similar situation as Piro from MT. why is my online avatar a girl? just is.

perhaps it's time i went back to Lorentz the Sniper, who can shoot accurately and precisely even if he is blinded with a flashbang. maybe i should upload that comic one day, if i still have it...

[edit] looks like i lost that strip. oh well... it's to be never seen again for all eternity.

My fav. char depends somewhat on what I'm watching, Kenshin Himora is it right now. (I'm watching the box set for season 1, and reading the manga at the same time, this could be dangerous. ;) )

I'm starting to really like Kenshin. *recently read volume 1 of the manga*

Hmm, other than that...I haven't gotten attached to an anime character in a long time.

great characters

Postby Kokhiri Sojourn » Sat Nov 29, 2003 10:34 am

I haven't seen many anime at this point, because I haven't had as much access to it (lack of airplay on TV, money for DVDs, not many friends who like it, etc.), but thus far some of my favorites are Ashitaka, from Princess Mononoke, Noface, from Spirited Away, Jet, from Bebop, and Kirika, from Noir. I like Ashitaka because his goal is peace and seems to have others in mind before himself. Noface, because I think he is a vastly deep character. How he takes on the different people's personas that he eats is comparable for me to how people are influenced by their friends and how people will change so others will like them because they are insecure. Noface is desperately inscure, and wanted nothing more than a friend. Jet is great because I like all the past stuff about him, like in Ganymede Elegy and such. Kirika is so mysterious (as far as I've watched, which isn't much - the first five episodes). The not knowing her past, being so sad all the time, and having Mirelle telling her that she is going to kill her once she isn't useful anymore and she doesn't seem to care is all part of her intrigue for me. Also, she just kicks tail in battle. :dizzy: See ya!

She's kind, gentle and seems to be totally unable to get angry, even when she has to deal with someone like Hiro or *shudder* Akito. :thumb: Tohru is simply wonderful IMHO. Her purity, innocence and devotion to her friends make her a very likeable character and a great role model, too.

I'm kinda in the same position as Kokhiri... not enough availability, but from what I've seen:

I saw some of Trigun. Vash seems pretty cool.

Haku from Spirited away was awesome, with the whole dragon thing.

My number 1 fave char. for now is Kenshin perhaps because he's kinda like me in some ways... He's very open to people but has this whole other part that some people don't see or get, especially when they first meet, and he can get pretty protective sometimes... and gotta love the hair hehe... *wishes that he had long red hair* :dizzy:
