This should probably be in the Anime forum, but I'd suggest Millenium Actress. It's a movie, but it's very clean. There's one "ghost", but it's not a demon. Additionally, check out review database. SHould be lots of information on a more than a hundred anime. :thumb:
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Hmmm...Trigun? It's a great show! And if you don't mind blood, Rurouni Kenshin. Also, the Gundam series is clean, as is .Hack//Twilight. Fruits Basket comes to mind as well. Also, browse through the anime reviews section. I'm sure you'll find something! ^_^

Keep in mind though that there is some violence in especially Gundam Seed
because of the fact that it is a war based series.

Speed Racer is a good classic, you have probably seen the Geico ads that feature
Speedy and Trixie.
Then there's also Astroboy.

Well, your need for a non violent, something your grandma would approve of, would be case closed. I personally would recommend a ton of other great Anime's, but most of the good ones are probably not what your grandma approves of, sigh.

Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar is a really nice title. I would also recommend Piano and maybe Angelic Layer.

do you like mecha? If so, here are a few recommendations: If you like corny, old-school-type giant robot shows, I'd recommend G Gundam. As far as sexual content, it's squeaky clean and I've watched it up to vol. 3 and there's no profannity so far. It's pretty cheesy and sometimes pretty ridiculous, but i like it and think it's a fun show. Then There's robotech, Macross Saga. It's the edited version of the original SDF Macross, so there's no profannity or sexual content. It's pretty old, and the animation a bit dated, but if you can look past that, it has an engaging storyline and some good romance. Then there's Macross 2, the movie. I'm not so sure if I should recommend this one. It has quite a bit of profannity and one of the characters spends most of the movie in a rather skimpy outfit. There is a character who looks rather feminime, but it's never implyed that he's actually gay(he's seen for a total of about five minutes in the entire move.) But as far as violence and sex(save for some skimpy outfits) it's pretty clean. Oh yeah, there's a scene in the opening credits wher the main female character is seen nude, but it's just barbie-doll and undetailed, like a magical girl anime. I'm not so sure Macross 2, is the best recommendation, but if you can look past it's profannity(d--n, h--l,s--t, and one G-d, no F---'s) and skimpy outfits, it's an awesome anime mecha movie with some spectacular space and aerial battles. I hope these recommendations helped, and I'll see if i can come up with some more later, in case you're not a mecha fan.

. Also, the Gundam series is clean, as is

While this is true of most Gundam series, a few contain detailed nudity (Mobile Suit Gundam, 08th Ms Team) but save for some mild profannity, most of them are clean. Just to let you know, Gundam is a vast franchise and many different Gundam series are made by seperate producers, so some tend to be cleaner than others. Just wanted to let you know.

Allow me to recommend "Fruits Basket." But read the review on it first to see if it's something you'd like.

Depending on how you define "bad influences," I would suggest Cardcaptor Sakura. A very clean series that has a minimal of cursing (I can remember two d-words, and that's in one episode).

Well, I always suggest my personal favouite anime, Giant Robo.
It can get somewhat violent in some parts, but nothing over the top. There's almost zero language in the subtitles (though the dubs tend to have a lot : /).
The sereis is not an action/mecha anime, but rather a drama. It's emotionally heavy, and very good. Plus, it's only 7 (long) episodes, on three DVDs.
