concerts are great but...

For all the music-lovers out there, this is your place to swap lyrics, talk about new bands and jazz about concerts. All things related to the audio world belong here.

concerts are great but...

Postby Sonic_13 » Tue Jul 12, 2005 9:46 pm

I've been to 2 concerts in my life.

.38 special with lynyrd skynyrd and john fogerty. I am potentially going to see zztop in a month or so. I'd LOVE that!

When I go to a concert i really really let loose! I go insane, i jump up and down, i play air guitar, i scream the lyrics as loud as i can! But... music isnt the same anymore. I cant stand any of the bands touring around here. I'm looking at the list now

3 doors down... wheezer... green day... earth wind and fire... :shake:

Mike can't party to these bands... not at all!

So where do you guys stand on music?

oooh wanna hear an interesting secret?

AC/DC may be making a new album at the end of this summer, and a new tour to go with it. Thats now the #1 goal in my life, is to see ac/dc live!

...you can't stand Weezer? How on earth can you not stand Weezer? Weezer is GREAT!

As for concerts, I love concerts. I don't go totally crazy since that would entail the butt kicking of my life at some of the shows I go to, but I am quite a fan of screaming the lyrics along and some nice insanity in the crowd (i.e. pushing, shoving, etc. it's all fun).

So..concerts rock.

wheezer is fine... but i wouldnt be able to get into it. Its not.... not my kind of stuff! All the music I like either never comes around here or isnt made anymore.

I will admit... I'd love to see incubus or Jet in concert. That would be cool!

Oh man... when I went to the John Fogerty concert (this was like the highlight of my life!) I was jumping 2 or 3 feet in the air, shaking my fist, screaming maniacally, I was psyched!

at the very end I had about 20 people coming over to me (including ones from the other side of the place) telling me how much I "rocked". John, the man himself, even looked up at me and pointed like 3 times! It was soooo cool!

I'm not saying I don't like wheezer, I just couldn't have that kind of fun at a wheezer concert, if you dig what I'm saying =P

I would have to agree with you in the fact that I am not a huge fan of the bands nowadays...I have been to A LOT of concerts in the past few years, especially when I was in the US. I love seeing 70's and 80's Classic Rock in concert because I am the youngest there by far! Haha. So yeah, Rock on!!!!!

And AC/DC is pretty cool in concert...pretty crazy, but pretty cool too.

Oh yeah, being the youngest one there is terrible in my opinion. I see a bunch of 40-50 year olds sitting around looking like their doing their best to remenaisce their glory days. And anyone there who does look remotely my age looks outrageously bored or annoyed to be there.

So I take it you don't live in the USA? Who have you seen, if you dont mind me asking? I cant wait until I get a better job and method of transportation so I can go to all kinds of concerts!

have you seen AC/DC? YOU ARE SO LUCKY if you have! They havent come anywheres near here in years and years! I hope I get to see them one day =/

Oh man, well when I was in the US I was in Dallas which is a very very popular concert city.
I've seen Rush, AC/DC, Kiss, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Quiet Riot, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Cheap Trick, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Journey, ZZTop, Eric Clapton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Deo, Cinderella, Aerosmith, Peter Frampton, The Eagles, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Dire Straights, and Bad Company...thats all I can think of, but I've been to A LOT of concerts.

Hey, what are some of the most memorable things that have happened at concerts for you guys?

For me, my top five are as follows...
Showbread/He Is Legend/The Chariot, Solid State Youngbloods Tour: During He Is Legend's last song "I Am Hollywood", Josh from Showbread and TJ from As Cities Burn came out and screamed the end along with He Is Legend's lead singer. It was very, very cool especially for someone who is as big of a Showbread fan as I am.

Anberlin, Cornerstone 2004: As the loud part of "Glass To the Arson" kicked in, Zao's lead singer, Dan Weyandt, came on stage and turned the loud part into a screaming part.

Project 86, Cornerstone 2004: Andrew Schwab landed on my head when he attempted to stage dive. 'Nuff said.

Bleach, 2003: Davy Baysinger, lead singer of Bleach, did a high dive off of the 20 foot tall speaker stacks into the crowd.

Five Iron Frenzy, 2003: During a break between songs, a kid in the front of the audience asks Reese, FIF's lead singer, to call the kid's mom and tell him he's just at the concert and he's okay. Reese does it. It's very cool.

I can't wait! I think my mom is going to take me and my friend to Kelly Clarkson's concert in Knoxville on the 23rd!

If I go, it'll be the first concert going to see an artist that I actually like . I've been to Faith Hill and Rascal Flatts concerts (I was invited by other people; I'm not really into country music) and a long time ago I went with my cousin's youth group to see Plus One (remember them?!?), Rachel Lampa, and some other Christian groups... I've also been to a Rebecca St. James concert. But I'm not really into CCM that much. I do like a lot of Christian rock bands though.

I've been to a few concerts, and they were all great! I look forward to Spirit West Coast this year. It will be my first time going. As for bands I've seen before... (in order of most recent to longest ago)

Steven Curtis Chapman
Rebecca St. James
The O.C. Supertones
John Reuben
Sanctus Real
The Katinas
Roper
Linkin Park
P.O.D.
Hoobastank
Story of the Year
Sonic Flood

And some smaller bands and people you've probably never heard of, like Kendall Lane (they were cool) and some others I don't remember.

I've been to a lot of concerts in my lifetime. I remember one time when my dad was doing a gig at a local fair. The bass was so loud that I threw up at the concession stand (I was previously standing right next to the speakers). I think a few people left the line after that...
I was only four years old though, so no one got mad. XD I think.

Sometimes I got to dance on stage, which was cool. I was such a ham then. I saw a lot of local artists too, which exposed me to a bunch of different styles. I think that's played a huge part in the development of my musical taste. I like almost any style of music you can think of. Classical, rock, jazz, ska, country, rap, techno, pop, heavy metal, r&b, whatever. If you give it to me, I'll listen to it.

Even when I was an unborn child, my mom went to concerts. She said I used to kick really hard like I was dancing, However, she had to leave sometimes because people were smoking (all kinds of stuff, unfortunately) and she didn't want to me to get second-hand smoke. My mom was so funny, she'd actually ask people to go smoke somewhere else...but most of the time they wouldn't move. :eh:

I know how to look cool at a concert...you know, the slight head-bob to the rhythm, tapping of the foot, arms crossed...but I like to move around, jump and stuff. I'm currently trying to find a balance. I want to be considerate of other people who are watching the show, but I want to rock out too...

Then I get afraid that I'll embarrass my dad, who always looks so cool at concerts with his long-haired guitaristish musiciany awesomeness. How does he do it?! Dad has the awesome gift of vibing with the music while remaining totally calm! It's unfair...T_T

I don't want to be the wild chick whose head is always in front of you, waving around and obscuring your view in a game of "now you see the band, now you can't". o_O Therefore I'll just stand up, sit down, shut up, and enjoy the music. Who cares what everyone else is doing anyway? I'm there to see the band, not to make everybody happy...butbut...PARANOIA...everyone is staring at me...*gack*. XP

It's so much more comfortable to be the one on stage, rather than sitting in the audience.

thats the weird thing about me. Im usually very worried about making people upset, except at concerts. then i go wild, i scream and shout and shake my fist. I seem to be the only one doing it to! everyone else is, like you're saying, standing there bobbing their heads.

I went to see one weird band... i dont consider a concert... it had like... rocktapus and..... new found glory?

IT WAS SO HORRIBLE! I was basically plugging my ears all through it lol

The best concert I've been too was Jars of Clay, who came to my church and performed. They were awesome...me and a group of people from my school were up at the very top of the bleachers and just going crazy. But we usually do that no matter what's going on, but still...
"Ah, look, Kouryuu...the birds are returning north. Can you see? ...Kouryuu. Who do you suppose decided birds are free? They can fly wherever they choose...but if there's no branch for them to return to...they might regret having wings, don't you think? Perhaps true freedom...is having a home to return to."
