Sorry, that sort of thing just bugs me...

That's um rather...unusual attire for a nun. Sister Jeanette would've had a fit.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Yes, Sister Spears is making me a little skeptical. And from an artist's point of view (whether it was intentional or just the way the layout happened) I don't appreciate where the center focus of that pic is ...

I read through the site and I see it as two brothers who love the old-fashioned American comics. They are based in the Phillipines and this is just their style of art. I don't think it's Christian at all. They have Christian elements because of the culture in which they were raised in their country. Yet, they also have women who look like "Sister Spear" (crack up name, Gypsy) because they're trying to emulate the old Marvel and DC Comics.

I see no harm in it, but I certainly wouldn't label this Christian.

Okay, where does Jesus, a teacher/healer/master/savior that saved the world from sin, cross paths with Marvel/DC superhero wannabes? (besides that they're heroes)

If anyone wants to check out a REALLY fantastic comic, then search for Archangels The Saga. It's got artwork that rivels even the best that Marvel and The X-Men can do! The plots are wonderous, and the action is simply drool worthy. Only problem is that they are slow in coming out with new issues. They never make their due dates, so it could be 3-6+ months before you see a new one, but other then that it's really good!!

Lol. No idea. I think they're understaffed and with graphics such as what they have.....well it don't come cheap or easy. If they stepped up production, they could have a lot bigger audience. It's truely sad to see what has become of the Christain culture for teens and young adults. They have plenty of good stuff for books, music, and some for videos. The problem is that they have neglected video games, which rivals even the movie industry if you look at recent figures, not to mention comics, cards, and now anime!! With manga and anime becoming such large entertainment figureheads, I don't see how they can afford to NOT to produce good entertainment in those areas. The entertainment industry has sent us a challenge, but we are going to start to fail if we don't get into gear. Actually Duo I don't really understand what your saying, but don't group Archangels into the comic that's being talked about with the pic posted. Achangels is more spiritually oriented, much like Frank Peretti. *Pets* So dun't be groupin it with some comic group that don't really look all too Christain to me. So the only way I can think of is that your saying it would be truely Christain, and not merely a poor excuse for the secular market or Christain to produce a decent Christain comic. (An I'm not tryin to put the comic down too much, cuz I don't really know much, other then what I can see from what I presume to be a cover image, and not insultin anyone, much less Duo-chan here!!)

If I'm not mistaken, what Duo means is that if he were to do a manga, it would have strong Christian tones without being sugarcoated and overdone. Begging your pardon if I'm wrong...

I would like for more christian comics that deal with everyday life involving normal humans like you and I. After all, God works even in the most weak, poor, wretched human being in the world as long as he/she chooses to abide in Him.

I'm in agreement with Duo and Ink. Comics is such a great field to reach the masses, why only make Christian mangas for Christians to read? Before I became a Christian at age 16, I would never have read some of the stuff that they sell at FCB or Lifeway. It's just Christians making money off Christians sometimes. :shake: Sorry, I know I stepped on someones toes. This is IMHO, however.

It would be interesting to see it done. There are certainly films and novels that are essentially Christian in character but are oriented to a broader audience. As far as comics go, the ones that are explicitly Christian are, to be quite blunt, pretty awful. Narrative depth is usually sacrificed in the name of didactics.

A few artists do it right however, usually as part of a particular character's personality. Joyce in IW!, or Rikk in Fans! for example; you could probably also include Nightcrawler as well although I'm less familiar with him. Of course, it may also depend on your particular religious and literary sensibilities, and I suspect that mine are probably quite a bit different from most people's here anyways.
