I wrote this for my brother who is going through hard times right now and has been bouncing around between my home in Maryland and Chicago.

Listen

Hear me
Across the mountains, plains, and lakes.
Don't ever give up hope;
Don't let me give up mine.
I know it's not too late,
I know you still are there.
It may be hard to see
Just what you have to do,
It may be hard to hear,
But hear me.

Hear God
Through the hurts and fears and pains.
He'll never give up hope;
His hope will guide you through.
With Him it's not too late,
He'll find you deep inside.
It may be hard to feel
The hand that leads you on,
It may be hard to hear,
But hear Him.

The crystalline flakes float down, slowly, delicately, silently.
The wind dies, and they fall, gracing the land with their beauty.
They cover the earth, resting on every tree, bush, house, and car.
Finally the sun comes out, and the white blanket fades away…

My Guardian

I heard a voice but did not loook
to see who had spoken,
I saw a sign and did not stop
to think about what it meant,
I felt a hand but did not see
who was holding me,
I sensed a presence but never touched
the heart of my guardian

But You were there watching me,
guiding me, holding me,
You never left my side
though I thought I was alone

Til finally one day I fell
and a hand reached down to pick me up
I heard a voice say "Follow me,"
I saw Your face in its majesty,
I grabbed Your hand and finally
I held Your hand and walked with You

And now I'm always by Your side,
I always want to be with You,
Until the day that I go home and touch
the heart of my guardian

Love Letter from God

I love you
more than anyone else ever could
more than you could ever love me
more than anything else in the world

Don't be afraid
to give up your heart to me
to come running into my open arms
to let me pour out my love to you

Be still and know
that I will love you forever
that I am always here to give you hope
that I will never ever let you down

Remember I am here
to give you refuge from your fear
to guide your every movement
to give you all the love you need

Because I love you
more than anyone else ever could
more than you could ever love me
more than anything else in the world

And you're too precious for me to let you go

Send your fire into my soul
Let me burn with your eternal light
Never to be extinguished
Forever shining bright

Give me a fiery passion
To see every soul ablaze
To see your fire in every heart

Let your fire burn bight in me
So all may see your awesome love
And seek to get a glimpse of you
And feel your fire from above

Send me out to spread the flame
In all the world so all might see
that you alone are what we need
that you can truly make us pure

I will dance for joy in the presence of my God

Radiance

Flitting figures perform a tango
Jumping, entwining, falling, flying
Garbed in incandescent red and gold
Like a sunset’s glow on a twilit sky

The blaze shines bright and free tonight
Its raging power is on beautiful display
It rises up, a golden angel
Piercing the void of the obsidian sky

But not so long ago this flame
Began with just a tiny spark
The slightest flash, the merest glow
It started quite innocuously

But a single flame ignites another
United they grow in strength and size
Momentum carries the fire on
Yearning to consume all in its path

So now the blaze dances on
Dousing the Earth in its glorious light
Sparks fly, hearts are moved
And a flame ignites within the soul
