:)

><, ack! Why is the screen stretched out horizontally? I have to scroll to the right in order to read all of the posts.

Chobits is one of the series that leads me to reject the notion that CLAMP only makes manga for girls.

Yes you are right ^^. Chobits is a shounen manga, and so are Angelic Layer and Tsubasa. All three are aimed primarily at boys. But, believe it or not, Miyuki-chan is considered shoujo, as far as I know. Yeah...I don't get it either

Congrats to the winners!

I think the scrolling problem was my fault. My sig was stretching way out. It should be fixed now.

there is one more, when mokona isnt around, syaoron, kurogane, and fye cannot communicated to each other, they speak in their own language, so mokona also is a translater

Okay, been weeks since I posted here, or anywhere on CAA, so we are going to hope this works. The website was for some reason, not letting me post anything or read, not because it was blocking me, but when i clicked on something, it would not load up the page. I don't know why.

Anyway, since I have not posted since before Tsuabasa vol. 5 came out (wow that was a ways back) I must say first... IT WAS AWESOME!!! okay i know that was old news so I'm sorry to bring that up again, but i had to, it is my fav manga afterall.

Secondly I just started reading MKR. I have only read one, but it seems pretty good. I really wished my internet service or this website (i don't know which was messing up) would have let me posted here for the contest, because the only ones i did not know at first were the MKR questions, which i then figured out. Oh well, i guess i just try this months.

Speaking of which, has this months been posted? maybe i over looked it on the while i was doing my catching up reading here. But i couldn't find it.

Lastly thanks Termyt for helping me get my avatar to the right size! As you can see it works now. Thanks!

lol! So far so good. While I try to be aware of the content (in this case magic), it seems pretty innocent, more like fancy powers than anything else. And I love Sakura and Kero. They're excellent. Both the opening and ending are great, but since I tend to go for openings over endings, I think I like the opening the best. So far the series is cute, entertaining and funny, and I hope it keeps it up.
A couple questions though, what's this whole thing Sakura says before she uses her powers? Something about calling on the power of the Dark or something. o_O
And is there any signifigance behind these strange, fancy circles that appear on the ground (also behind every episode title)? Are they just made up or are they bad real-life witchcraft symbols and all?
Also, I just need some reassurance on the concept of magic in this show. It seems light-hearted and all, but I want to know that they aren't trying to make magic something good and just tone it down and sugarcoat it.

"Key which holds the power of the dark. Surrender your true form to me. I command you under our contract, to release!" I'm not really sure why they chose the word dark, but I don't think it really has any significance, and the transformation sequence dialogue changes in season three to something else. It might be referring to the Moon element.

I think the magic circle is supposed to be Clow's trademark, he made it himself. It's a combination of the Sun and Moon. The two guardians of the Clow, Kero and the other one (don't want to reveal too much about the second guardian. spoilers ^^) represent the sun and moon and the Clow cards are divided in half. 26 are "Sun" element and fall under Kero's control, and 26 are "Moon" element and fall under the second guardian's control. tey also say that Clow Reed combined eastern and western magic and created his own kind of magic to make the clow cards

Anyway, I don't think it tries to sugar coat any real life magic to make it look good. The Clow cards always seemed to me to be more like Pokemon then any real life magic stuff, since they are alive and have wills of their own. I think the closest any magic in the show gets to real life magic is Li and his Ofudo charms that can cast elemental spells. They are similar to the charms Shinto priests use to ward off evil spirits (like Rei-chan in Sailor Moon ^^) But I think an important difference to be noted between all the magic in CCS and real life magic is that in CCS someone has to be born with the ability to use magic. In that sense Sakura-tachi's abilities are more similar to X-Men powers than to real life magic.

You mean Li uses sutras and stuff like Miroku uses in InuYasha?

Thanks, that helps clear it up more. I really want to get into this series, I just want to be assured that the content is clean and appropriate for Christians, and that magic isn't trying to be covered up and portrayed as good or anything. As long as that isn't the case, and the cards aren't associated with tarot cards and any other kind of real-life sorcery, that makes it alot better.

I don't know. I've never watched an Inu-Yasha episode all the way through, I've only seen the intro and ending sequences. But you'll be able to see for yourself on the second DVD. Li first goes into action in episode 8.

the guy looks more like Watanuki than anyone else. I read on animeondvd.com that the Tsubasa manga is going to be 9 volumes total. Anyone know if this is confirmed??

I saw Tsubasa episode 5 the other day. It was pretty cool. Mokona is always so amusing, and I liked how they did the scene where Syaoran-tachi stops being able to communicate. So far I think my favorite episode is episode 4. Even though it was filler compared to the manga it was really cute. It was cool that they gave that gang member guy more character development. And it had some awesome lines!!

"She has a kindness that makes peoples' hearts seek a new light. That is Sakura-chan's true nature"

Am I the only one who is getting a little worried with the pacing of the Tsubasa anime?? I read that it's scheduled to only be 26 episodes, but if they keep going at this speed they are only going to make it through like three worlds before they have to start wrapping the story up. It's taken them 6 episodes to get past the first world from the manga. I hope the ending doesn't suck.

I really want to see Tsubasa, I just need to see if I actually have DiVX Player. I downloaded it but I don't see it (only things that go with it), so...

I saw CCS disc 2 last Saturday. At first I felt I bit uneasy about this anime but now I feel alot more comfortable. I really, really loved ep 6 (the one about Sakura-chan's mother), so much that I applauded it at the end. I loved the references to heaven and the line about "I guess she wasn't alone after all" (referring to Sakura-chan's mother in heaven). ;) I can't wait to see the next disc, and I definitely want to buy this series. The only bad thing I can say is I'm not too pleased with Li Shaoran's use of magic, this whole "god of *whatever-it-was*", answer my call!", plus his whiole weird board that moves on it's own like that. I know it's just meant to detect Clow cards, but I wasn't too fond of it. Never the less, I'm loving CCS more and more. ^^

The "Laizen board" lol. That's what they called it in the dub, but it's just "the compass" in the original. Disc 2 is cool. I love the cover art for it. The jump card episode rocked!!! Killer plush toys.

*jump card throws animals at Sakura*
Sakura: That doesn't hurt at all *big plush toy squashes Kero*

It's one of my all time favorite episodes. Episode 8 was the first episode I ever saw, because it was the one evil WB aired first. It was all chopped up too ><. They cut out a ton of stuff and tried to make it look like Li was the main character. And if you need a Divx player, I could send you the instalation file, or a link to the main website. I think it's free.

Just saw Tsubasa episode 6 today. I was kind of dissapointed with the fight scenes, they weren't nearly as action packed as they were in the manga. But everything else rocked! I love the choir chanting background music they played, and the ending scene in the restaurant was way cool. They also handled the whole scene in the rain REALLY well. It gave me shivers ^^ I'm looking forward to episode 7. I hope it doesn't take them forever to get through the Chun Hyang world though. And I hope they have the scene of Syaoran-tachi getting that item from Yuuko like in the manga.

Hi all! Sorry for the long lapse between posts and not getting the contest up for this month. I'm going to take a hiatus from the contest writing this month and have one ready for June. As I've mentioned before, I'm just getting a bit burnt out, and really need my Summer break (starts June 11 or so). I should be able to be more active with posting then. No excuses, though, I just haven't been motivated.

I did attend ACen, the con up in Chicago. I was hoping to see Tsubasa cosplayers, but unfortunately did not see any... :(

I did pick up Tsubasa Vol. 5, which I have now read and liked very much! As well as Tsubasa Vol.'s 6 and 7 in Japanese, which I'm working my way through via the pictures. It's fun to preview the series that way though. I got some other cool stuff, including two beautiful pencil boards featuring Sakura-chan (Tsubasa Sakura-chan).

I'm liking the world the characters are in right now in Tsubasa, but I'm hoping for some Magic Knight appearances...

I'm so glad you're enjoying CCS, Jeikobu! I'm glad you're okay with the magical elements, too. I never viewed it as anything but innocent fantasy, but I realize the Spirit convicts different people differently regarding different things.

Oh, just a Q to the club, as I wasn't exactly sure where to post this. I'm interested in getting some fanart of Sakura (possibly other CCS characters with her) to put up in my home. I'm looking for something with quality and CLAMP style, but I have some personalization requests for the actual artwork. Anyone know of good fanartists you've seen on CAA who can do the CLAMP style or a similar style well, or do we we have any good fanartists in the Club? I'd of course pay for it, and pay shipping to my place, but you'd have to exchange addresses so keep that in mind too. You can PM me about this one if you want. Thanks so much!

And a question to the club:

If you had to dimension-hop to find something important to you (as in Tsubasa), and you could take any 3 companions from the CLAMP universe, who would you take with you? And they can be the characters from the original mangas or Tsubasa versions from those universes, just be sure to tell us all which ones! ^___^ If you want you, can also tell us why you chose those characters. Note: Don't include Mokona in your 3: He's automatically in your party, as he's necessary to dimension-hop in the first place! ;)

And finally, nice pics you all posted since I was gone! :jump:

Sakura: That doesn't hurt at all *big plush toy squashes Kero*

It's one of my all time favorite episodes. Episode 8 was the first episode I ever saw, because it was the one evil WB aired first. It was all chopped up too ><. They cut out a ton of stuff and tried to make it look like Li was the main character. And if you need a Divx player, I could send you the instalation file, or a link to the main website. I think it's free.

So there's nothing more to it than that it's a compass?
What morons dubbed CCS? It wasn't 4Kids was it?
It would need to be a G4 Mac-compatable player. I downloaded the Mac version from the official site but can't seem to find it on my computer.

Yeah, i think all they ever say about it is that it was a magical device created by Clow and he left it with his mother's side of the family, and it detects Clow cards.

Nelvanha, the company responsible for Carebears, dubbed Cardcaptor Sakura. They did a really bad job; they cut out all the relationships and refrences to japanese culture. However, some of the blaim goes to WB; Nelvana dubbed all the episodes but WB only aired like 30 something in the US and they actully spliced some episodes together that weren't originally together and made some edits that didn;t even show up in the original dub. Also, Nelvana dubbed the 1st and 3rd openings and used them as the openings in other countries, but WB just created it's own sucky opening. In a way, Nelvana is better than 4kids, even though their dub is worse than Pokemon's, because at least Nelvana agreed to release CCs subbed.

But you like Pokemon's dub right? Why is that? I can't imagine a dub worse than Pokemon's. *glances at the CCS dub with great fear*
I just saw disc 3 last night. I must say this whole "love" thing Li seems to have for Yukito is pretty disturbing. Please tell me this series isn't giving support to homosexually. Didn't someone say earlier here that that is explained later?

whoa, cool. I just figured out how to reply to a post ^^. Took my long enough right?

Yes, I like Pokemon's dub. I like all the voice actors, most of the dub music, and in terms of content cut out it's one of the most unedited dubs to ever be shown on TV. I mean, they've only skipped 4 episodes out of 200 bazillion while WB almost skipped half of CCS when it aired (and it was all out of order too) As far as voices go though, I don't think the Cardcaptor voices are realy that bad. Pioneer actully had Bang Zoom do an uncut dub of the 2nd CCS movie with new voice actors, and I actully preferred most of Nelvana's voices to Bang Zoom's. (Steven Cannon as Yukito?? *kills Cleff's evil voice actor* Mona Marshal as Li?? Wendee Lee, using her Love Hina Su voice, as Kero?? Your so much better than that! And WHY didn't Ruby Marlowe play Tomoyo??? Come on!! ^^ The only really good casting was Julia Maddelena as Mei-lin.)

Li-kun is not gay. There is an explanation. You won't get it till episode 51 but it's there ^^ Saying anymore would be a story spoiler.

volume 3, woot! I love the Flower card episode. It was so hilarious! I like how some of the Clow cards are just so random and not really very dangerous. The Sword card battle was really cool, and Tomoyo's mom is great! I think she likes Sakura's dad ^_^. They should get married, then Tomoyo and Sakura could be sisters!

I see what you're saying, but after seeing the Japanese version, I'll never be able to respect what 4Kids has done to Pokemon. The voices started out alright for the most part (what the heck was with the early Meowth voice? it sounded like the opposite of Nyarth's >_<), but they quickly went downhill, and now all them sound painful to me. And while I can certainly understand cutting the Porygon ep for obvious reasons, the others had no reason to be cut. Cutting the Miniryu ep because of a gun? It wasn't even violent, it was just an old man threatening Satoshi with a pistol (and later Roketto-dan threatening the old man). And the Ice Cave just had Takeshi sick from because hit with ice or water (I forget what exactly) while in an already cold cave. And nothing is wrong with Rougela. What was the other cut ep again? It would take a while to explain it all but 4Kids messes with everything, and changes so much. The tampered with the plots alot in the movies as well. As a result I cannot stand the 2nd film's dub. Sorry, but it makes me gringe thinking of it. ^^]Li-kun is not gay. There is an explanation. You won't get it till episode 51 but it's there ^^ Saying anymore would be a story spoiler.

Glad to hear it, I look forward to that ep so I can see what the explanation is, but until then at least I can take your word for it. ^^

lol, yeah I was wondering how the Flower card could even come in handy (I knew it had to be able to have some use, which it did ;)). And yeah, it seems like as much as Tomoyo's mom tries to hate Sakura's dad, she really does like him. ^^
