Touching songs.

For all the music-lovers out there, this is your place to swap lyrics, talk about new bands and jazz about concerts. All things related to the audio world belong here.

Touching songs.

This is a thread dedicated to songs that moved you, whether the lyrics felt like a "good" kick in the face wake up call or if they just make you cry whenever you hear them. Post the songs that give you a knot in your throat whenever you hear them.

As for me I've gotta say BraveSaintSaturn's song "Estrella." About an ill friend of the band members that died. This song always gets to me whenever I hear it.

I will DEFINITELY second Estrella. That song literally made me cry the first time I heard it.

Also, these did not make me cry but I was certainly moved by them...

Five Iron Frenzy - Every New Day (this came very very CLOSE to making me weep tears of joy the first time I heard Reese sing the "Hallelujah!" part), the final live version from The End Is Here, also Something Like Laughter from The End Is Near touches me every time I hear it.

Brave Saint Saturn - Under Bridges

Blindside - Nothing But Skin

mewithoutYou - The Cure For Pain, Four Word Letter Part 2, Carousels

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah

Showbread - Matthias Replaces Judas (beautiful song), Stabbing Art To Death

Death Cab For Cutie - A Lack of Color

Bleach - Patience, Sufficient

Relient K - Getting Into You, For the Moments I Feel Faint

There's more, but I don't have time to list them all.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

"Hard to Get," by Rich Mullins. Simply an amazing song.

"Monachetti" by Further Seems Forever, for reasons that are less than obvious.

"Winnipesaukee," by Steve Hindalong. "I thought my lake was deep but yours is deeper than the Winnipesaukee / I thought my soul was bleak but yours is the salty sea"

Though it is not exactly a song, "Adagio for Strings" by Samuel Barber is a very moving piece.

I always found this song sad. Its called "Jacob Green" and its written and performed by Johnny Cash. Although I believe its a fictional story it has a sad truth in essence and I can't help but get a bit melancholy when I hear it. Not for the faint of heart though.

1) Jacob Green got busted for possession
next morning early he appeared in court.
But he was sent to jail to wait
to be trialed at some later date.
Next morning early, there came a sad report.
At the jail they took away his clothes to shame him
and to make sure Jacob Green had no pride left
They cut of all his hair.
Today they found him hanging there
afraid to face the day he killed himself.

CHORUS:
It happened yesterday, and if you turn your head away
Somewhere in some dirty hole the scene will be rerun.
Not only Jacob Green, but many more you've never seen
It could be someone that you love gets done
like Jacob Green got done.
It could be someone that you love gets done
like Jacob Green got done.

2)Jacobs father hired a team of lawyers,
inspections and long inquiries were held.
The sheriff then retired
and the papers said two guards were fired.
They put a brand new coat of paint on Jacob's cell.
But like a tomb that looks so white and shiny
inside you'll find corruption never seen.
And somewhere out there tonight
In a dirty cell without a light
There will be locked up another Jacob Green

CHORUS:
It happened yesterday, and if you turn your head away
Somewhere in some dirty hole the scene will be rerun.
Not only Jacob Green, but many more you've never seen.
It could be someone that you love gets done
like Jacob Green got done.
It could be someone that you love gets done
like Jacob Green got done.

Stavesacre -"Gold And Silver","Rivers Underneath"

UnderOath - Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape.

I have to admit that I cry every time I hear that song.

Though I doubt anyone has ever heard of her, I like Danielle Rose's "Crown of Thorns." Six minutes of beautiful and heartbreaking accapella from the humbling point of view of the personified Crown of Thorns.
