Steve Blum. AWESOME VOICE OF TEH D00M. Also known as David Lucas. Is anyone else in love with this man's voice? His major roles include:
Spike Spiegel -- Cowboy Bebop
Lord Darcia -- Wolf's Rain
Roger Smith -- The Big O
Makoto Shishio -- Rurouni Kenshin TV
The Laughing Man -- Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Jamie -- Megas XLR

The funny thing is, ANN doesn't have the two names in connection with each other, despite the fact that both files have the same picture. ^^

There you go with your teasing again. Don't you know I had a massive fangirl heart attack when you said you knew him?

But I do know Steve Blum. He's one of the most awesome banjo players you'll ever hear.

You're right, I do know what you mean, but I find it incredibly fun to tease you. You should have known better anyway, considering it was April 1st.

I now have mental images of Lord Darcia playing a banjo, and want to meet Steve Blum more desperately than usual. Thanks. And it's not nice to tease innocent fangirls.

I KNEW IT! I knew I recognized Roger's voice...but for the life of me I could NOT figure out who it was. Spike, but of course.

Yes, I like him. He's a very good VA, even if I didn't know his name til a few minutes ago. I recognize his work, though, and that's awesome.

I do that all the time. I'm like, "...who is that?" and Tidus20 is like, "I don't know." "No, really, who is that?" And it takes me FOREVER to figure it out. I did it most recently with Gourry from Slayers, I think. I believe we finally decided he was Brock from Pokemon.

Steve's a great voice actor, I think he's even done a comercial for Seven-11. Oh thank heaven.

Tidus20 mantains that he once played a baby on a commercial for some sort of baby-washing product. I put my hands over my ears and say, "I can't hear you!"

*jumps up and down and shrieks in excited fan-girl voice*
YES! YES!!! I thought I was the only person who totally loves him!! He has the best voice, and it's really recognizable. I've seen that commercial, too. The only time I've actually seen his real face was on the cast interview on the Cowboy Bebop movie, I believe.

On a different, yet slightly related note, has anyone else seen a commercial for some heartburn relief medicine and thought it was the English voice-over for Tsukasa from .hack//SIGN?? I think her name is Brianna something...Either way, I'm almost positive it's her.

Another topic in my relentless and incomprehensible banter...Why do voice-overs use various names when being credited for their work???

*joins Haru Bay Nay in jumping and shrieking* Yeee, isn't his voice amazing?! I watched the eight episode of Wolf's Rain on On Demand yesterday and Lord Darcia's preview narration sent shivers up my spine! You're lucky, I've never seen his real face, save the little picture they have on ANN. And that looks a little outdated.
And I have no clue why they use different names. "Steven Jay Blum" and "David Lucas" are both perfectly plausible names. Which one is his real one? O.o

I'm pretty good at recognizing voice actor's work. Before I knew who he was, I recognized him as Spike, Shishio, and Roger. There's a few other's that I here and recognize occasionally, like Sasami's VA, Crispin Freeman, and Liz Ortiz.

He also did a ton of Disney characters in their awful direct-to-video/TV animations. I'm serious. He does a great Donald Duck... no, I'm *actually* serious guys.

And I have the audio from some commercial for old Power Rangers toys, where he does the narration.
And that guy who does Vash's voice used to BE a Power Ranger.

HAMMER TIME!

Johnny Yong Bosch, AKA The Black Power Ranger on Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. The moment I heard, I dug up an old tape and laughed my head off.

He almost always seems to play the voices of pretty boy characters.

So are you fangirls (the ones without the DVDs at least) saddened that Bebop and Big O are getting pulled from the Adult Swim schedule, or do you figure you'll still get your fix with him being on Samurai Champloo and S-Cry-ed? ;)

O.O Is he? He's on Samurai Champloo?! That automatically bumps it up my "See This" list. I'm not that saddened-- Wait, did you say "Bebop"? They can't pull Cowboy Bebop! It's been on Cartoon Network for, what, seven years on ratings alone! Noooooooooo....
The Big O was awesome, but I think it can go peacefully. I will, however, miss hearing Steve Blum say "Angel". XD I rewound that recording so many times...

Yeah, it looks like he does one of the lead voices on SC.

On Bebob, they're moving Trigun to its Saturday spot (which is getting bumped from weeknights for the Fullmetal Alchemist/Ghost in the Shell combo -- at least that's as of now; we know how AS can be inconsistent with its last-minute schedule changes). Bebop is probably just getting a breather; it's been on for a long time, but it has gotten one or two breaks in the past. I seriously doubt it's gone for good, though, especially with AS reportedly set to air the CB movie in late summer or fall.

Big O will probably be back on eventually as well.

I like him especially as Spike and Roger. He also did a good job as Celestin on Ah! My Goddess: The Movie. I wish we had cable at home so I could check Samurai Champloo. The commercials for it already got me hooked and knowing that Steve Blum is a VA for the series really makes me want to check it out.

Hey, wasn't he a VA in an episode of Witch Hunter Robin? And one more thing, is it just me or did he change his voice slightly for the second season of Big O?

Yeah Mr. Blum is the voice of Muguen on Champloo and he also is the Tom Robot on Toonami. But I really loved his Laughing Man role. It was kick-butt good.

Yes, he was the doctor in "Faith" (episode 8).

And one more thing, is it just me or did he change his voice slightly for the second season of Big O?

At least in the Big O calls, most noticeably "Showtime." :thumb:

He also plays in Love Hina as Haitani, Professor Nebraska in Trigun, and Akio Kurosawa in Witch Hunter Robin. His voice is the most recognizable voice in the Dub industry (along with the likes of Wendee Lee, Robert Wicks, Crispin Freeman, and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn).

He also doing the Naruto Script Adaptation which puts me to ease.
