What Have We Done?

But if serving the Lord seems undesireable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
Joshua 24:15

Visiting a village school one day, King Oscar II of Sweden asked the pupils to name the greatest kings of Sweden. The answers were unanimous: Gustavus Vasa, Gustavus Adolphus, Charles X. Then the teacher leaned over to one little boy and whispered something in his ear. "And King Oscar," volunteered the child.
"Really? And what has King Oscar done that's so remarkable?" asked the king.
"I--I--I don't know," stammered the unhappy child.
"That's all right," said the king. "Neither do I."

As others may view our lives, or even if we evaluate them ourselves, what would be our greatest achievements as a believer? What have we done to bring glory and honor to the Lord? Have we attempted great things for Him, or have we been busy trying to bring success to ourselves?

Prayer: Ask God to use your life to do great things for His kingdom.

"Achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others, and that's nice too, but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success."
~Catherine Estelle Brown (Mother of Helen Hayes)
"The secret of a good sermon is to have a good beginning and a good ending, then having the two as close together as possible."
~George Burns
