Titan AE: Anyone remember this?

Postby kodachrome64 » Sat Apr 16, 2005 8:56 pm

This has to be one of the most underrated animated movies out there. Has anyone seen Titan AE? It was made quite a while ago (2000) and it was a science-fiction movie done by Fox. Anyways, I loved this movie and consider it one of the best animated flicks I've seen that's not done by Disney.

Too bad the box-office wasn't as responsive for a movie released during a summer. :(

!! Me too! I really liked it. There were only a few movies I really liked that flopped, and this was one of them. I thought the mix of CG and traditional-style animation worked really nicely for it, and the characters were engaging as well.

I thought it was really good and couldn't understand why it was a total flop. That kangaroo legged creature was a bit bad for my taste though. But the rest of the movie I really enjoyed!

Dude, I LOVED Titan:AE! I even saw it in theaters. I'm a huge graphic/CGI nut, and that was one of the reasons why. Although I did want them to make John Kusack's character a little LESS like Dmitri from Anastasia. But the girl was awesome. ^^

Eh, it was an ok film. Decent story, but predictable. Acting was mediocre; this is another example that good film actors do not mean good voice actors.

Music was nice, except for a couple scenes like where he's navigating through what was it, an astroid field? And the music starts blasting. Typical of Fox. That was a pointless scene, coulda done without.

The mix of 3-D and 2-D was pretty nice though. Well done in that field.

Overall, decent film, good enough for me to own on DVD.

I love this film too  Its one of the few movies that I have bought. It was interesting from the beginning straight through to the end. Btw, wasn't that so sad bout the dad!! At the beginning I found it hard to stop myself from yelling at the TV "GET OUT OF THERE DAD! GO GO GO!!!" :P  lol! Yes, I get involved with movies I like.

I enjoyed it when I bought the VHS of it and read the 3 paper back books based on it. There was the main story and the 2 books of the 2 main characters how their lives lead up to them meeting.

I think you're talking about John Leguizamo who played Gune (that turtle-like character from the movie). Never saw Anastasia, but it was directly linked to the creators of Titan AE.

The only good thing with this movie being so underrated is that it went into the Walmart bargain bin wicked fast! I got as a present and then 2 months later my bro picked it up for $5 at ol wallyworld.

But a cool movie. I have to say, I do like well done cgi...

I had forgotten how much I liked this movie. When I first watched it I was so happy that an American movie had gone outside the box and actually came up with something edgy and original, not just another attempt to copy Disney.

Yeah, I know, I couldn't get over the uncanny resemblance.

I think I'm probably the only person in this thread who can say I really disliked this movie, ha ha. I just thought it was fairly cheesy. I mean, the animation was pretty cool and all, but I just thought the story line was rather unoriginal. However, before I saw it my friends made all this hype about it, so my expectations were pretty high, and that could have affected my opinion of it when I saw it.

I enjoyed the visuals of this movie, although I thought the storyline was pretty predictable.

The part about planet bob made me laugh though...
