A Morbid Poll (off sorts)

If you could specified it on your deathbed or last will and testament, what song would you have your family play at your funeral as your are laid to rest in your grave, what would it be?

This question is open to every genre of music - spirituals, gospel, R&B, death metal, country music, Johnny Cash (I consider him a genre onto himself), folk or whatever.

Personally I've always liked the song by Vera Lynn (although I don't like her other music) called "We'll meet Again", the song that plays in the end of Kubrick's Dr Strangelove or how I learned to stop Worrying and Love the Bomb as the world falls into nuclear chaos. But I liked that song before seeing Dr Strangelove, so I suppose it would be a good song to play when I die because, from a Christian point of view, it is a definite reality (and its kind of sardonic as well).

Wow, I was just thinking about this the other day! (...) Definately "Blue" from the final episode of Cowboy Bebop, because I love that song (and I love to be melodramtic, I suppose). Although I'm not sure I qualify as cool enough to use that song, seeing as it was pre-used by Spike...who isn't dead.

When I am dead, I wish for the song played at my funeral to be "These Are Not My Pants the Rock Opera" by Five Iron Frenzy. All of the portions must be played.

Chopin's funeral march--there's nothing wrong with the classics. Henry Purcell also wrote a moving funeral piece, for Queen Mary, but that piece is reserved for royalty.

There is a particular song in The Yeomen of the Gaurd by Gilbert and Sullivan that I think would be appropriet. It has a chourus refrain of:

Are you referring to Pachebel's canon in D? If so, that is an interesting choice; it is a beautiful piece, but most frequently performed at weddings.

well, for me i've decided a while back that i want played a song called "crystal river" by a christian goth band called wedding party, basically what it is is this song being sung by someone that's died and is already in heaven standing by the crystal river, it's really good, and perfect for a funeral
