Absence is to love as wind is to a flame. It extinguishes the little, it ignites the great.

Life is a test. It is only a test. Had this been real life you would have have been instructed where to go and what to do.

When i argue with reality I lose.....But only 100% of the time.

No trial is too tough for God. ^_^

Postby Kura Ookami » Sun Jan 09, 2005 1:37 am

No trial is too tough to handle
When you've got God on your side
His love and power are awesome
He always wants the best for us.

Satan will try to defeat us
But even he can't defeat God
Have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ
For nothing is beyond Him.

Let Him fill you with His love
And guide you on your journey
He is always there for us
His beloved children

He will purify our hearts
And watch over us always
So that we will never fall
Even during our toughest trials.

Another poem that was inspired by God. Hope you all like it :)

Love Needs No Reason

Postby Kura Ookami » Tue Mar 01, 2005 1:06 pm

It's time, i think to add another poem. :) I hope you all like it. Also this post is my 400th one. Yay!

Love needs no reason.
When you give your all
With no reservations
God gives you everything

Give with all your heart
And you will recieve
What you gave and more
Remember these words

If you give nothing
You'll recieve nothing
Give and you shall recieve
Many blessings from God

Show love to others
Do many good deeds
Be there for others
This is what God commands

This one was also inspired by God. Isn't He good? :)

In Community Lies Strength

Postby Kura Ookami » Mon Oct 15, 2007 12:27 am

I haven't been in this thread for a long time now. It's time for another poem. It's amazing how we can procrastinate on things and next thing we know it's been years since we did something we really wanted to do. Procrastination. Perhaps that could be the theme of my next poem?

In Community Lies Strength

Do you know what it's like to be alone?
What it's like to have no friends at all?
To have everyone ignore you
Even when you really need their help?

What it's like when you're bullied harshly
and when everyone joins the bullies
So it's you and only you, alone
Praying for someone, anyone, to help?

Bullies attack the weakest of us
Only when we're totally alone.
Preying on our solitude and fear
Even when there's a crowd watching us

And we ask, "Why? Why don't they help?"
Then someone does, someone steps forward
And stands up to the bullies for you,
Someone who is strong when you are weak.

The euphoria when someone helps.
When they show they care enough to help
Have you ever known that feeling?
When you know you've got at least one friend.

And how much better community is.
It just rakes one friend to make your day,
But a community is stronger.
When you know you are loved. That's the best

Hell is isolation, loneliness.
Heaven is friendship community.
Showing random kindness to others
Making the whole world a better place.

Nothing beats a close community.
Together we can change the whole world.
Like Jesus Christ did with the needy
And the poor and sinners everywhere.

Jesus was only a single man.
Imagine what all of us could do!
Within community lies our strength.
So please, be there for someone today.

It's been so long I'm not sure how good this one is. What do you think?

Why? I'll keep writing what i do best. :)

I will write and post at least one poem each week from now on.

I'm reluctant to make that promise and even more reluctant to actually say it publicly like this in case i forget or procrastinate or simply don't manage it, but i need to make writing my priority. If I don't I might end up looking back at my life when I'm older and thinking, I wish i had written more and helped people with my writing.

Very nice writing, Kura; I especially liked 'Trust in the Lord' and 'When You Know Love'. The one about the wolfpack, too, I really understand; especially the verse
The last time i found a pack of wolves
They never ever accepted me
I couldnt take that cruelty again
So i wandered away from the new pack

Ooo... your poems get better as I go down the list. ^_^

What wonders will tommorow bring?
Happiness or deep sorrow?
Blessings anew from the Lord?
Another trial to test my faith?

Why worry about tommorow,
When today has it's own troubles?
Try not to live in the future
nor the past, but in the present

Have you ever wondered,
Why it is called the present
The answer is obvious.
The present is God's gift.

This one was really cool. ^_^

Wow... page two is even better still. You make some really great points which speak to me -from where I've been to where I'm at. 'Love needs no reason'... 'In Community Lies Strength' (Love that title, by the way)... really excellent, Kura. ^_^
I really like your latest one -'In Community Lies Strength'; I can really feel what it's like. You explain it well -I think we've all come across bullies, and have so longed for someone to stand up for us. When that person stands up against the bullies in the poem, it really touched my heart; guess it's something I wish to see happen for more people. :)

Postby Kura Ookami » Tue Oct 23, 2007 6:54 am

I'll do it tomorrow, dear.

I'll do it tomorrow, dear.
The kids need to be put to bed.
Not tonight, dear. I'm too tired.
But that's what you said yesterday.

I know. I know. Stop whining.
I said I'll do it tomorrow.
I'll keep my promise darling,
Or is it that you don't trust me?

It's not that I don't trust you.
It's just, it's always tomorrow.
Why don't you do something now?
The kids and I need you today.

I'll be here tomorrow, dear,
But today I just want to sleep.
I've had a long day at work.
You do understand don't you, dear?

Of course I do. I'm tired too,
But our kids should come first darling.
You might be here tomorrow,
But I'm not sure if I will be.

You can't mean you're going to leave?
I always thought we were happy!
Another man! It must be!
Why else would you want to leave me?

Can't you listen? It's not that.
You're always saying tomorrow.
You only do your work today.
The kids and I are always last!

I have to repeat myself?
I'm too tired to do that tonight.
All I want to do is sleep.
So let's stop the argument now.

Fine! Go to sleep if you want!
I'm going to sort the kids out.
Don't expect me to be here
When you wake up in the morning.

She was gone the next morning.
The divorce notice came later.
That day I didn't know why.
Now I know, but it's too late now.

This poem features a married couple in an argument. I thought how could I write a poem on procrastination effectively? What would be the best way to write it? A college kid failing his exams because he always procrastinated or something else?. I'll do it tomorrow just came up in my mind as a good description of procrastination so I decided to use that and this poem is the result.

Stretching oneself is a good exercise that can improve one's strengths. Plus, you may discover new strengths in the process.

"In Community Lies Strength" has good messages, but you might try showing instead of telling when you write.

In "I'll do it tomorrow, dear." try having the second person speak in italics to make the conversation more clear. Also, until the last stanza the poem has been completely dialogue; try offsetting it somehow. Otherwise, good message.
