Help, I am tring to find a clean manga series.

Postby Liger'smane » Thu Feb 24, 2005 11:37 am

Hi. Does anyone know of a clean manga series out there? Oh, buy clean I mean there can't be much swearing, any nudity, no demonic symbles or stuff. If anyone out there has read "Magic Night Rayearth", than you know it's pretty clean right! Well, my parents made me get ried of it cuz it had a demonic 6 pointed star in the second book.
Plz help, I have super strick parents and I want to find inspiration for my own manga... :waah!:. Thanks ;)

:) If your parents aren't against Norse mythology, I'd recommend Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok.

Yea, Hikaru no GO is great!
I would recommend Pita Ten, but Shia's a demon...but she's a good demon, if that helps! ^^;
There's Angelic Layer by CLAMP. Pretty clean, and a good read too! (it's a short manga, so you don't spend much money either! XD)

The series Prince of Tennis is very good. I've only read the first volume and part of the second, but so far it's been Ok.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. I would put a minor disclaimer on there that there's often alot of violence. Several people "loose their heads."
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

:wow!: I can't believe you guys have not mentioned Shelter of Wings yet. This is a pure Christian Manga made by Lisa Hutcheson. Her art is fantastic! :thumb:

Awesome. Thanks for all the recomendations. The only thing is now where to get these! I live in Seattle if that helps at all. You all rock for helping a poor clueless gal like me... MOOO.

Nausicaa is good and clean. Hard to think of many because of translator preferences (Azumanga Daioh manga is out because ADV put some strong words in). SHort Program was pretty good.

Most big chain bookstores like Borders and Barnes & Noble carry a fairly good selection of manga.

Neotopia is a really clean American Mangasp far.
I have found none of the stuff you said you didn't want. Its a really fun adventure.
I have only yet read 1 and a half of the books.

Viz's translation of One Piece.
Plus: Little language, good story (starting with the Alrong Arc :D) Stylized Art. Little actual killing.
Minus: Some Liquor use, show in a neutral light. Blood appears, and can be very plentiful. Example being Zoro when he fought Mihawk, being cut across the chest caused a good deal of splatter. However there is no real gore.

I'll go with the others when they suggest Hikaru no Go.

As a minor note, you should know that Nausicaa can get pretty violent at times. *is very squeemish*

Rurouni Kenshin is good. But it's pretty violent. There isn't really anything objectionable except an occasional "finger" (though in Japan, that's not as bad as it is over here...hey, in some countries, the "i've got your nose" gesture is considered extremely profane) and a mild swear word about once every two books (except for the first one as Yahiko says the d*** word a few times, but Kaoru then tells Kenshin to wash his mouth out with soap  ).
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!
