Star Wars Manga!

Postby SnowLeopard » Mon Jan 31, 2005 2:08 pm

I was at the library the other day and I found the entire old Star Wars

trilogy as manga. the three movies are done by differen artists, so the

continuity isn't so good, but some of the art, especially in the comic books of

the first one is very nice. It's kinda funny seeing what the different

characters look like as manga characters. :dance:

Those came out a few years ago and I thought it was something to see how Star Wars would look if it had been done by film makers or anime producers in Japan if it had been done that way.

I've read all of these except the episode 1 volumes. I don't think episode 2 mnaga exists.....yet. They were good. But man, Return of the Jedi had some of the worst manga art I have ever seen!!

Yeah, I wanted to read it, but it was the art drove me insane. Teh noses were HUGE and really curvy. Couldn't take it.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I have two of the "A New Hope" volumes and I love them - but not enough to buy the others. I didn't like the art on the other two anyway. ^^;

I saw the ep4 ones. They tried, but there is just something unnatural about seeing manga notations and conventions used with Star Wars. It's not one I'd do...

Our library has the first in the Empire Strikes Back series.
Please,let's hope that no-one decides to do the PRequels in manga form.
I for one can't stand the thought of a Chibi version of Jar Jar!
