Heehee. Me too. ^_^ Here are a few that I like:

'Runaway' by Something Corporate.
'Bend and Not Break' by Dashboard Confessional.
'Drops of Jupiter' by Train

Um, I know I like more but I am kind of out of it and can't think of them at the moment. @_@ I know that many of them are by Dashboard Confessional though. ^^ *huggles her CD*

Evanescence has a lot of sad love songs.
"Immortal" and "Bring me to Life" are my two favorites.
Michael W. Smith is my other fav, then again most of his songs are cool.

One of my favourites is "1001 Commandments" by The Legendary Pink Dots.. I like ironic love songs, myself.

Off the Robotech Perfect Soundtrack 2 CD set, track #12 (Together by Sunny Hilden) is one of my favourite love songs (and it's perfect for a wedding *and* it's from an anime series! w00t!).

Angel's Tale by hyde.

the English version of the lyrics goes something like this...

" wrote:Here in my heart
Memories linger
I hold them sacred
Safe from all others
Angel's tale

A love such as this
Once in a lifetime
Lost in your beauty
Still dreaming of you
Angel's tale

You drove the sinner from me
And shone with such glory
Touching me softly
My breath torn away

Wrapped in a silver veil
Under skies so pale
Trembling as I watched you
One holy night, Angel

Snow can be warm
Didn't you know that?
Just like a snowflake
Falling from heaven
Angel's tale

I kept my feelings from you
The heavens divide us
I longed to tell you
All my heart's desire

If only I had wings
Wings as white as yours
Up into the sky I'd surely fly ... Angel

Yes, on such snowy nights
Memories revive
Your eternal flame
Burning again secret

Here in my heart
Memories linger
I hold them sacred
Safe from all others
Angel's tale
Angel's tale
Angel's tale
fightin' in the eighties

*Is a hopeless romantic* ^^;;

There are two songs I can think of off the top of my head...

"Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton

And "You're just my love" from Sailor Moon. The English translation follows:

I look up at the moonlit sky
and see you floating there

I close my eyes
and whisper your name

Tears are like ripples in crystal
filling my heart with loneliness

For example, no matter how distant our separation, my love
Our hearts now can shine as one
You're just my love

I want to be at your side, to gaze at you
Please grant this wish...

I want to fall asleep,
holding you in my arms

In the same night, we share the sorrow
Because I want to believe in love

For example, no matter how many wounds we bear
that cause us to cry, my love
Because if we're together, we are able to smile
You're just my love

No matter how distant
our separation, my love
Our hearts now can shine as one

No matter how many wounds we bear
that cause us to cry, my love
Because if we're together, we are able to smile
You're just my love

"Ugly Day" by Five Iron Frenzy, "Beating Heart Baby" by Head Automatica, "Across Waters" by Blindside, "I Never Said That I Was Brave" by mewithoutYou(sort of an apology song for hurting the one he loved, so it's kind of a love song).
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

The best love songs are by HIM, His Infernal Majesty. They're love-metal. Pretty cool.
"Relax, turn around, and take my hand." Tool
"Heir Kommt Die Sonne." Rammestein
"Now the world is gone, I'm just one. Oh please God help me." Metallica
"Are You Ready?!?" KoRn
"All and all your just another brick in the wall." Pink Floyd.

Oooh! I admit it! I'm nuts about love songs. A few of my favorites are...

FM Static:
"Definitely Maybe"
"Hey Now"
"Three Days Later"
"My First Sterio" (hehe)

Hawk Nelson:
"Ever Little Thing"

Relient K (Actaully, most of their's fit better into the cat of "Break-up songs" but I still like 'em):
"High of 75"
"Which to Bury, Us or the Hatchet?"

Edit: *slaps forehead* Just remembered Switchfoot, much to Rachel's chigrin.
"Edge of my Seat"
"Might Have Ben Hier"

Ooh, have you ever heard the dubbed opening to A Record Of Lodoss Wars? Woo wee, cheesy as they come, but I think it's kinda sweet. Hmm, I used to be a big Sheryl Crow fan, so I like "If It Makes You Happy".
Also, there's a song on the pillows' new album, "XAVIER", which is in English, but it's mangled. However, if you translate the Kanji version, you get a pretty nice love song:

I can't fly an airplane
I sighed at my misfortune
But even though I'm crazy about the sky
I'm just slithering along like a reptile

Not just me, but she too
Loves looking at the muddy sky
We saw many migrating birds

I've just woken up
In any case, I'll release these chains
And become a daydreamer

I can't please everybody
In this wide world
She's the only girl I know
Without a doubt, she's a beautiful oddball

She told me, 'I'll stay here
Because I feel safe with you'
Without a doubt, she's a cheerful oddball

I've just woken up
In any case, I'll release these chains
I'll tear apart these chains
And become a daydreamer
I just woke up from a dream
Think happy thoughts.

I'm a sucker for love songs.
"Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls
"I'll Be" by Edwin McCain
"Danny's Song" by Loggins & Messina
"I Got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher
And "Glory of Love" by New Found Glory. I'm not sure of the original singer, and quite frankly, I don't wish to. I've heard the original version. Zzzzzz.

I think the saddest love song in the world(I've actually gotten choked up on this one) is Hate Me by Blue October. Even though the lyrics are very racey, I love it. I get the edited version on my radio.

Angel - Slick Shoes
The Last Slowdance - MxPx
Behind Blue Eyes - Slow Coming Day
Glass In The Trees - Dead Poetic (one of the best songs ever)
Forever - As I Lay Dying (as with the dead poetic one, not quite a love song but close enough)

I'll post more when I can think of them.

It sounds like a song that is about a friend who he's lost contact with or something...Though what you are saying sounds plausible.
