Anyone read the books that these movies were made out of?

I have been on a crusade lately to read the book of every movieI've ever seen. It is very interesting to see what has been changed from book to movie, and most of the time the books are actually better.

Enough with explanations, here's the list:

Jungle Books 1 and 2
The Sheep-Pig (basis for the movie Babe)
Seabiscuit
101 Dalmations (yes, that was a book)
Princess Bride (Liked the movie better. They diss God in the book.)

If anybody else has book-movies to share, I'd love to hear about them.

-since almost all of Disney's animated movies are from books (or at least fairy tale stories) (never mind the fact that Disney manages to change, sometimes radically, the original story... that's a soapbox for another day, lol):

The Chronicles of Narnia (and i am still waiting for a well done version of the series... *sigh*)

speaking of both disney and the chronicles of narnia, i heard through a christian magazine (i believe it was charisma) that the disney company is going to be involved in the production of the chronicles of narnia, starting with the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe, from what i read, which was like back in august, they're expecting a release date around christmas 2005, it's supposed to be a live action movie and i'd also heard that they were planning vidoe games, figures, and all that merchandise that comes along with being a disney movie, the guy that's actually in charge of making the movie is a believer from what i understand, so hopefully disney wont mess things up for us, just a heads up, the time to wait is over

How about "Do androids dream of electric sheep?" which became "Blade Runner" starring Harrison Ford.

"Dune" which was an infinately better book. In fact, I can only stand the movie if I take them as different storries altogether.

I read 'Ella Enchanted' which was made into a movie. The movie was cute, but that was all. The book is 105% better. *nod*

i am so psyched about the Narnia movie. it's good to see that it will get great treatment on the level of LotR.

A lot of the book/movie combinations that I've seen have already been mentioned. Hmm, do I have anything to add... *scrolls through thread again*

oldphilosopher, are you referring to a particular Dune movie? (I've seen two different interpretations, so I get to choose between the Lynch version and the Harrison version. The book is still a lot better than either.)

I quite liked "I, Robot" the book, but I still haven't seen the movie. If you liked "Le Comte de Monte Cristo" (The Count of Monte Cristo), you might be interested in the fact that there's an anime version of it under the name Gankutsuou. (Gankutsuou is the title under which the book is sold in Japan)
