Heh heh, I feel so silly asking but what is DDR??
"So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

2 Samuel 6: 21&22

"I am going to take this bucket of water and pour it on the flames of hell, and then I am going to use this torch to burn down the gates of paradise so that people will not love God for want of heaven or fear of hell, but because He is God."

Dance Dance Revolution it's for the Playstation systems. I've never played it, but I think you play by hitting curtain buttons to the beat of the music.

Hehe, DDR = Dance Dance Revolution ^_^

Basically, you step on arrows and look really dumb ^^; Lol. No really, it's supposed to be a dance simulation thingy.

I can't play on Heavy/Maniac yet ; - ; I can do six footers...and me favorite songs are um...Matsuri Japan, Healing Vision, Orion .78 Ameuro Mix, My Generation, Dream a Dream...and more.

BTW, one song I hate...Max 300 >< Hate hate hate it...

Even if there is an old thread, bumping it won't do much good now. Discuss away here:)

DDR is very cool, I'm not very good either though

<panting> I lost 15 lbs because of DDR, I wish I can dance to heavies. most embarassing moment while playing DDR I tripped on my own foot trying to do some "dance tricks", became a loser for a night.

My most terrible DDR moment was a PA(Perfect Attack, whoever gets the most Perfects wins) tournament. First round, I won the coin toss, so I got to pick Light, but the dude picked Bag. If you've ever done that song you know what I mean. Poof, got an E. It was horrible. Then, the next round I won the coin toss again, and pick Light, and this...jerk...picked Max 300. I couldn't keep up. At all.

I play DDR Mix 4 plus

My favorite song right to dance to is, um, I forget... It's on the konamix disc 1 and for basic it's 1 foot, for trick it's 3... Forgot what song it was...

Anyhow, songs I can do:

Have you ever been mellow
Butterfly (that one is very hard for me)
Kung Fu Fighting
Xanadu
1234 007 (oh yeah, that's the one I play trick on, it's 3 on trick)
I'm very good at hero too, which is a level 3 song, but I can't do MR Wonderful because it's a 4 foot song...
There are more songs besides that, but I can't think of them right now...

Oh, and on DDR Extreme the very first DDR song I ever danced to was "Speed over Beethoven" I think that was a 2 foot song, actually...

:) Yeah!! Haha, isn't it so frustating when you can get a S on the computer but as soon as you get to the real arcade machines you just can't move fast enough?? haha, it's so much easier to move fingers instead of legs!

^^ hehe, it's so cute when there're a bunch of people playing for the first time** Especially at someones house- hehe

I didn't really get to play much this week. I played one round of Extreme at the mall but those pads are atrocious. You have to stomp because they're so insensitive. I no likey the stomping. So I didn't have no fun. Not to mention I failed Break Down!....again....

I recently bought DDRMax 2 for the ps2 (along with a Konami dance pad) and I love it! I'd read about people's fascination with this odd Dance Dance game, but I was always like ... sure, whatever floats your boat. Then, after watching someone play it in the arcade, I decided to try it. But, there's no DDR machine within an hour and a half from where I live. So, I took a gamble and got DDRMax2. It's all I've been playing since.

My favorite songs are:

Tomorrow Perfume
Break Down
Burning Heat
Conga Feeling
In the Navy
Heaven

Ok ... there's more but I'll spare you all. I love the fact that in workout mode it keeps track of how many miles you've "run" or "jumped rope."

what is battle mode? I saw it when I was playing last week... In any case, have any of you seen anyone do trick stuff on the machines? I saw a video where this guy was dancing to "Wipeout" and his legs were going faster than I could ever imagine and he was getting all hits... And it was doubles too, and on that machine with 5 pads... I was in shock...

Do you remember where you got the video? I was trying to find some good videos of tournies and stuff to prove to my co-workers that DDR is not Brittney's Dance Beat.

I've seen people freestyle before. It was never anything really amazing but it was kinda cool. There were these two kids that would play on two player, and then call out "SWITCH!" and switch sides of the pad, and hardly miss a step o_O

BTW, that machine with 5 pads instead of 4 is called Pump It Up. :]

Volt wrote:My little brother and I play DDRMAX all the time. I just think it's stupid how the arcade version songs are never on the PS2 version, but DDRMAX2 came out and so i herd, Ian Van Dahl and 4 strings, were on there. !must get!

The user that said "DDR sucks, it's all about parapa the rapper" First of all, DDR is a Dancing game and Parapa is a Rapping game. (Amplitude, is a melody and rythmic DJ'ing game) Plus i don't think you can hook up your pad to Parapa the Rappa and dance...DDR really is revolutionary.
My 10 year old little brother plays on Heavy! He can last through Orion, Max 300,!on heavy! and what's the other one? He's crazy and i told him, "One of these days you're gonna break your legs" while watching him furiously stomp on the dance pad.
I don't like heavy, it doesn't look like Dancing but then again who cares. DDR is alright, i like :Buterfly, Cartoon Heroes, Higher and Higher (i think?), Stay, Destiny (something), Groove, And a bunch of other ones. Overall i think only 1/40 DDR songs are good techno or dance. The rest are just American Noise and endless beats. I'm from America and i would just like to say that the techno here isn't very good quality. Of course depending on where you live, i live in the area where people don't know how to mix. Oh yea and i like the song True, it has a great music video, the songs are too short though. :sniffle:

Actually, I think that user was talking about Para Para Paradise(I'll have to check the original post), which is another dancing-type game, except it has sensors that detect your movements.

I've seen people do Max 300 on Heavy and get a AAA o_O It's freaky.

I really like about...I'd say half of the DDR songs I've heard. Some of them are "licensed", like Captain Jack, he's a real artist. (I think he's big in Europe.) I think Smile.dk is a real artist too.

I wasn't aware there was much, if any, American music in DDR, except for a couple of songs they stuck onto the US versions. Actually, a lot of the artists are really only one man, named Naoki Maeda. He does music under his own name, Naoki, and under pseudonyms like Re-venge, De-sire, umm, I think N.M.R is one of them too, and probably some other ones I don't know about yet or don't remember ^^;

I dunno much about American techno really. The Chemical Brothers do some good stuff, but my favorite DJ is a Dutchman, heh. (DJ Tiesto)
