Where to find anime

Can anyone tell me how to find good quality anime that won't blow a hole in my pocketbook? I am looking for subtitled animes along the lines of Kodocha, Hana Yori Dango, Rurouni Kenshin....there are more, but I have to start somewhere. Atm, I don't own any anime whatsoever. I'd really like to remedy this! Besides, it's frustrating to go to the vid store to find that they have episodes 3+4 of (__) "series" and then eps.25+26 of the same "series", but none of the others before or in between. And they're dubbed which just makes it that much worse!!

Also: Is "Lain" any good? It looks interesting ,but I am not sure about it. "Now and then, Here and There" is another one I have an interest in but was told it had some disturbing themes--would anyone recommend it or not?

There is a link to animatics in the *links* section which people call cheap and reliable. You could always go to ebay. Sorry i can be of more help.

Well, if you don't want to deal with credit cards, shipping fees, and resisting the urge to check out your mail box every five minutes ... I recommend your local Best Buy. They're very inexpensive most of the time - especially the boxed sets. Too inexpensive for my own good, because I see great anime at great prices - and then I buy too much anime at great prices ... Also, Suncoast has also become a huge anime seller - but never buy a boxed set from them. Most of their stuff is so overpriced, it's not funny. They're usually right on top of release dates and such - whereas Best Buy doesn't really care if they have 3 volume sixes of a certain anime and with no thought to re-stock the previous volumes. *insert sarcastic impressed look smiley*

Lain's weird, but I liked it. The plot is obscure and possibly indecipherable, but for some reason I liked it anyway. You probably should be in a really "open" mood to watch it. Hmmm... I think I'll have to watch it again.

I frequently use Discount Anime DVD. You can order domestic or import anime DVDs as well as wall scrolls, manga graphic novels, soundtracks, t-shirts...

I've purchased stuff from them for almost two years now and I've never had any trouble. You might want to check them out.

Suncoast and Sam Goody and all there linked stores are way to expensive. I spent so much there it is sick. // Online is so cheap, like the aforementioned site. they really have some great bargains and selection. shipping is prolly about a week, but it is worth it. it is prolly like 80% off regular retail by comparison.
i thought Lain was ok, kinda strange. Kenshin is good, i think you can buy the set (all 90+ episodes) for 100 dollars at the site. Cheap.

Amazon.com!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't looked at kenshin prices there (don't have like any money and what i do is pledged to the magic knight rayearth manga) but i bought the all of trigun on three discs for thirty dollars! i saved 170 bucks , which it was at best buy (but there were 8 dvds, same # of episodes, just more dvds.) :jump:

I love Amazon also, I got the box sets of Lain, Bebop, Trigun, and Escaflowne for $113 including shipping.
