So Long, Farewell and thanks to all the Mods

Talk about anything in here.

So Long, Farewell and thanks to all the Mods

Postby Peanut » Tue Feb 18, 2025 9:14 pm

This is a little pre-mature but I figured I'd make this thread in case anyone wants to come in here and do the same. I just want to extend my thanks to all the mods who've served on this site over the years. I know for myself, CAA has been a pretty significant part of my life. I've met a number of my closest friends on here and have my fair share of great memories tied to this board. Its crazy to think that I've been a part of CAA for over 20 years at this point and that its been around for the latter half of my adolescence and the entirety of my adulthood. None of that would have happened without the hard work of all you mods over the years so truly, from the depths of my heart, thank you.

I want to also give a special thank you to Mith for everything he's done over the years. I know you've done a lot behind the scenes to keep things running over the years and I just want to let you know that I noticed and appreciate it.

I'm not really considering this a goodbye for numerous reasons...though now that I think about it that kind of ruins the title of this thread. But hey, I have to make every reference I can before the site shuts down in this form so might as well.

I posted this in another thread, but we're looking at ways people can still keep in touch, even if it becomes infeasible to resurrect the forums in their current incarnation. One way we've been kicking around is allowing people to say, "yes, I'd like these people (or anyone on CAA) to be able to contact me and here's how," and then someone who authenticates can ask about a user and get contact info if they've been permitted. Not sure how that looks like yet.

This is a good idea and I like it. I know there are some people who use CAA as a way to connect with people they used to talk on here years ago so keeping that alive would be nice.

I logged onto the Discord server before going to work and heard about this. I definitely intend to stick around there, no matter what happens to the forums.

It's been a wonderful time meeting you all. I've been here for so long and have made great friends (shoutout to the Discord for keeping us together).

I hope to see y'all again.
And this I pray, that your love would abound still, more and more with real knowledge and all discernment. Be prepared to preach the gospel at a moment's notice. Do you know the gospel well enough to do so yourself? Be ready.

I'd love to thank the mods as well. This place meant an awful lot, so it feels a little bittersweet seeing this go. I am super grateful for everyone's efforts, and I will still look in on the discord every now and again. When I remember its there lol.

Seconding this as a great idea, if possible. There are some people I don't think I've seen on the discord, so if they did come back here I'd love to have some means of finding them again somehow.
"Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day." Psalm 25:4-5

"Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.
The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.
O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles." Psalm 25: 16-22

Is this still the correct link for the Discord?

Well, when I clicked on that, it brought me to a page that said I'm already on the server...... and I am. So I'd say so! :)

It's been just over twenty years since I joined. Though my time here was mostly spent in the RPG thread back in the early 2000's I did lurk around many other threads as well and visited here through the following years.

To my friends on here, Danyasaur, Little t-Chan, Sonichiro, ~Bluerose~, Felix, The-Case, Insanitywithapen, Kawaiikneko, Christianfriend, C-girl, and all the others whose usernames I can't remember at the moment. You helped shape me into the person I am today. I am blessed to have met you. Thank you for your friendship.

To the mods, thank you for all you have done though the years and for keeping this place up and running for as long as you have. It's been a fun to visit and reminisce.

CAA will always be a place that I will remember fondly for what the Lord gave me through it.
