Thank you, GeneD. Hulu just posted Eccentric Family, and I was thinking about asking for a content review. Then I got on and saw you've done one. :)
Is your final comment i the nudity section true of the whole series, or just the episode mentioned right before it?

It applies to the whole series iirc, since actually in the bathhouse episode everyone's wearing towels. The scene with Benten is no more than a few seconds, the rest of the time she's strategically covered. Also that scene is not really sexualised, it's more to show how eccentric and strong willed (in a "does whatever she wants" kind of way) Benten is. I recommend the show though, it's well done overall, surprising how likable and relatable the characters can be and the strong family theme is really sweet and moving.

Can anyone review "Good Luck Girl?" It looks like it might be an enjoyable program, but since rightstuf lists it as "17+" I fear it might be full of fan service.

Wow, that's what they're calling Binbougami Ga now? XD They are getting looser and looser with their translations over at Funi. Unfortunately, I haven't watched it, but I'll see if I can squeeze it in because I'm curious about this too (MAL rates it at 13+, so they may have done something with the dub to make it 17+ :\ )

I can recall hearing of a few people who have, but I can't remember who. Hopefully they'll look at this thread and see that it needs a review, though.
Link to the title in the Reviews System for convenience: http://www.christiananime.net/reviews/c ... iew&id=286

Though I have heard some good things about the series, so I might add it to my giant list of things to watch as well. XD;

I'd personally already seen the whole thing. I was wondering why nobody had done a review on it yet. I will say it has a lot to do with the pattern of addiction. It doesn't reference any drug addictions. It's primarily addictions to things such as dating sims, pornography, getting caught in a pyramid scheme, and online gaming. It was to me like watching a commentary on addiction and it's effects. It's a commentary a good many problems that have including social anxiety. It has a good ending to it where the pattern is finally broken. I won't spoil how it happens.

Well, you can add a review for it yourself (after a certain number of posts, which I believe you are quite close to), so please do so when you are able. :3 I, and many others who use our reviews would really appreciate that.

I've seen all of it, reviewing a huge show like that would sure be a chore. If you haven't seen it, be forewarned that dirty jokes are its specialty.

I can't disagree with that. It does have strange kind of mix that actually works though. I really wouldn't know how to describe it.

I noticed that Ergo Proxy is not on the review list. This is a personal favorite series. I've been watching though it again. I find it has a great many philosophical references mixed into. It's got a good many layers to which makes it quite an intriguing series.

If you notice that we don't have a title in our Reviews System, you can Suggest a Title (found here for the anime section: http://www.christiananime.net/reviews/c ... ggestTitle ). I recommend doing this once you find our system doesn't have a title in it. It's really easy and takes less that five minutes.

We designed our Reviews System in a way that members can not only submit reviews for the titles in the system, but also be able to add new titles to the system to be reviewed. How you can suggest a title is go to the Reviews tab on the menu bar of CAA, go to the appropriate section (The Anime section is the default, but for other sections, Manga or Video Games, just click on that section), once you have chosen the section you want to suggest a title to, click "Suggest a Title" and fill out the applicable boxes. Click submit at the end and you're done!

You should be eligible now, actually, Starseven. I will have to double check that, though. But if you are still getting an error (as some people are I've noticed over the past few months), try checking the box "log me on automatically each visit" when you log onto CAA. I say this because the Reviews System has a bad habit of logging people out, which we are still trying to figure out the reason for. And since you can't see whether you are still online on the Reviews page, you never know that you are logged out.
So, try the different log in and see if it works and if it doesn't, send me a PM and I'll try a few other things. ^_^

So, I thought about making a new thread for this, but I decided it might be too similar to this one, so I'll just ask it here:
Hulu has recently added a plethora of shows, many of which have interesting-sounding titles. I tried one of them, but was very unpleasantly surprised by the content, so I figure I'll ask instead of exploring any more on my own.
Does anyone know anything about the recently added titles at Hulu?
Should this have been its own thread? (since they add titles from time to time)

^^^^ From just a quick skim of the "recently added in anime" on Hulu, I can tell you they have some good/clean series in there mixed in with some ecchi/hentai titles. :\ So that's worrisome. While some are more obvious about their content in their descriptions than others, it can be rather misleading. Were there particular titles you were concerned about? Feel free to shoot me a PM.

Once January finally rolls around and I have time (haaaaaha), I'll try to sift through all the stuff that Hulu has for anime and make sure we have them in our reviews system. For now, I know we do have some of the titles that Hulu has in our review system and any of the newer anime you can find out about as it airs from our season anime threads that Blkmage is cool enough to make each new anime season on CAA.

Yeah, that's Hulu's anime section, in a nutshell. Thus my question.
Some of the shows that sound interesting (based mainly on the title) are:
Someday's Dreamers
And Yet the Town Moves
Momo: Girl Shinigami
[ETA:] Kure-nai
Thanks for responding.

Could anyone expand on the content issues of NANA? The premise sounds like something I would enjoy, but the rating makes me wary. Since I'm pretty new to anime, I'm not quite sure what guarantees a rating...I've found a couple posts here about it, but they mainly deal with the question of yuri content. I understand it has sexual implications (and maybe more than that), but I'd rather not waste my time getting invested in a show that turns out to have explicit scenes. Compared to Western tv shows, what would it be similar to?

I can't speak to this particular show, but I can say that ratings are a crap shoot. A lot of shows I enjoy immensely have TV-MA ratings, but mainly just for violent content, which doesn't faze me. Still, a high age rating makes me leery, because it could be things that do bother me, like nudity.
I have, a couple of times, thought about watching NANA, but I haven't for much the same questions you have. I hope someone answers, for both of us.

I personally would stay away from this one. Some people say there's 'mild nudity,' others say there's tons of nudity, and still some say there's only doll nudity. Very clearly has lots of mature material and content on top of that.

From this review: SPOILER: Highlight text to read: "Best for 18 and over. Sexual situations (sex happens, though not explicit), high school dropouts, drugs, infidelity, pregnancy...the list goes on... NANA is a mature show in many senses of the term. Its discussion of sex is candid and its portrayal of the act barely lies on the "implicit" side of the line, while characters cheat on each other, engage in prostitution, and come into conflict with each other over paternity claims. Characters are also shown swearing and making obscene gestures at one another, and mild violence (though nothing graphic) occurs in several scenes. This is most highly recommended for the emotionally mature and should not be shown to children: though often humorous, NANA is not at all a lighthearted show and at times leaves little to the imagination."

Hello! I want to watch My Bride is a Mermaid, however, I a bit weary to watch it because on netflix, they rated it M.

IIRC, there are a plethora of sexually suggestive themes and such in every episode, but I can't imagine why this landed an "M" per se. No true nudity or such extreme forms of fan service and definitely no blood and guts. It's a romantic comedy for young boys with a few harem elements, but nothing like some of the 17+ shows I've had the displeasure of watching. That being said, if the idea of a few particularly gross scenes (like one where everyone thinks the main character Nagasumi is doing this and that to Sun-chan in the public park) sounds like too much for you, then consider giving it a pass, but I didn't really think overall it was so bad.

Watched it while it was simulcasting. My little mini-review: Most of the series could qualify at 13+, but episode 11 is the classic bathhouse episode which showed about as much as TV Tokyo will allow (no nipples, but barely-covered-by-steam breasts and butt cracks are visible). Also episode 4 has a brief bath scene where a character in dog form gets to bathe with a young girl (bubbles covering her nipples) but gets too excited and turns back to human. I'd rate it a 15+ personally.
Don't you think that it's boring how people talk?
