I was expecting Funimation to grab it, but now that I think about it, I don't think Bandai getting it is necessarily that surprising. It seems like the type of thing they would want to get.

Oddly enough, it doesn't seem too surprising to me that Bandai nabbed it. I'm only surprised that Funi didn't try for it before that.

Side note: I can see where some of the commenters are coming from, thinking it's yu-gi-oh. Too bad I can't put it in a reverse stain glass filter and find out. :\

I don't know, maybe I haven't been paying attention, but has any Aniplex show gotten picked up by anyone who's not Aniplex USA ever since Aniplex USA started up? I'd always assumed it'd be Aniplex USA getting it, but if that's not the case, then yeah, Bandai would make sense.

I think can't think of any off the top of my head that have.
I will admit, Bandai, who I associate more with toys, getting Yu-gi-oh seems more likely (sadly) than them getting Star Driver. I can only hope though. :<

Though, if Aniplex USA picks up (almost) all the Aniplex stuff from Japan, they need to get moving on this. O:
