I used Panda Active Scan before, but, for one, it's much slower at scanning your machine than a resident antivirus program (there are free ones out there, i.e. avast) and for two, people at Panda channel money toward Scientology. I don't really feel comfortable supporting Scientology, even indirectly, so I don't use Panda anything anymore.

Don't forget about Spybot Search and Destroy (good to have hand-in-hand with AdAware as they each catch things the other doesn't).

turning off ActiveX helps quite a bit too.

Norton SystemWorks (great speed disk utilitie)
http://www.symantec.com/sabu/sysworks/basic/
X-Setup Pro (The ultimate in system configuration or tweaking tools it gives you the option to make your comp crash on purpose though  )

Good site for programs http://www.majorgeeks.com/

I havent ever had a crash excepte when my comp overheated because of a huge dust build up in the cpu. I'll be making sure to clean it more often lol

I have SO, SO many...

FireFox - Best. Browser. Ever. Stops pretty much anything evil from the net before they even start moving towards me.

Tiny Personal Firewall - It is a very, very small firewall, and it does as it says on the box without making any pretty things. Perfect for a person like me who doesn't need colourful things on a firewall which I won't ever look at its settings, until a problem arises, which is few and far between.

VIM - One of the best text editors out there, only comparable against its own cousin/brother, VI. I use it all the time to fix many problems in the computer, especially when hexing.

regedit - The only program that comes with Windows that I find useful. It actually is useful for editing the registry. I do things manually.

Ad-aware - 'Nuff said.

Hmm, otherwise my system is pretty stable, so I don't need any more tools. Maybe notepad, but I only use that when I can't be stuffed to use VIM.

Scientology.... bad stuff.... Clearwater, FL is like the main base for them.... they own most of down-town Clearwater (not that anyone else was doing anything with it).

Oh well....

AVG Viruscan... Grisoft's virus scanner is pretty good for a virus scanner. Typical download/install/update pattern like most software.
