Money/Memory Issues

Postby Sheenar » Tue Jan 11, 2011 6:20 pm

I am so frustrated. Money woes again. Car ins. has been overcharging me for months and I didn't know it --good student discount was removed without notifying me. And I am still in school with a 3.5 GPA.
And apparently Online Banking does not always reflect an accurate account balance. My account is overdrawn and I thought I was being uber careful.

I keep trying to keep a register and write things down. My memory issues have become pretty disheartening this past year. I struggle just to remember to take my meds and go to dr. appointments. I also forget when bills are going to be taken... out of my account (they are done through automatic draft sinice I don't remember when bills are due/to send payments.)
So I've been depending on being able to call the bank line and get my current balance. Which turns out to not be a good way to do things.

I hate not being able to remember things. I am really trying to remember to put things into my calendar on my phone as soon as I find out about them, but am not very successful at that.

Thankfully, I will be taking skills classes through the neurorecovery agency (that is also helping me with job placement) starting next week (a total of 20 hours of classes) to help me cope with my disability and these newish effects --also... how to do everyday things differently to adapt to the changes in my abilities. I really hope it helps. This sucks.

I am really questioning my ability to move out on my own again. I can't remember appointments, medications, when bills are due, what I have purchased, to write purchases down, what chores need to be done and to do them, etc. etc.
I am still... intellectually present, but my brain is leaving me in other functions. Stupid disease/whatever it is.

I really hope this agency that I am working with can help. The lady I met with to discuss my needs/goals mentioned something about using visual markers to help with memory.

I really need better money management skills. I've honestly been trying hard, but I keep finding myself in the position of being overdrawn and then having to "borrow" money from my service dog fund (by having my trustee transfer some over) to make ends meet. I hope my trustee is able to transfer soon. I am negative $27 and will accrue fees if it is not brought positive within a day.

All these fees that Bank of America has do not help at all. They even charge to do Overdraft Protection and transfer money from my savings to my checking. :/

I'll be praying for you! I have some pretty bad memory problems to. As far as I know my only learning disability is ADHD so I don't think that could be causing my memory problems. Anyway though, I hope things start looking up for you! Hard as it may be sometimes we just gotta trust God will provide for us.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thanks, guys! I really appreciate it!

Things have gotten pretty rough at home. Mom is starting to use the fact that I don't have anywhere to go (still waiting/searching for housing) to exert control over me. And it's really frustrating.

I love her dearly, but I really need to get out on my own ASAP. Our relationship was better when we didn't live together. :/

If you use a program like Quicken (note: never let a transaction go unrecorded or your balance will be wrong), you can set transactions to automatically repeat each month. That way, you can know not only what you have in the bank right this minute, but also what you can expect to have in there tomorrow. Record all your automatic payments, and anything you spend from your accounts.
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.
