Decided to post this little bit of my childhood I didn't expect to find. I totally loved this series as a kid. What they would do was they'd make a movie or feature-length cartoon out of a popular book and serialize it (that is, make cliffhangers). This is just the kind of show that isn't done these days.

When I was a kid, we had PBS' Reading Rainbow I loved that show.

I watched that a few times. I like the Weekend Specials better. Since the story was serialized, they had more time to spend on the plot. You do realize the host of that show, Levar Burton, went on to star in Star Trek: TNG as Geordi Laforge, correct? (He also starred in the Roots miniseries)

Yes, I did! I couldn't believe it when I found out, but it was SO COOL!

There was an episode of Reading Rainbow where LeVar Burton actually showed some behind the scenes stuff of TNG, like how they did the transporter special effects and stuff.
