Postby Kisa » Mon May 10, 2004 6:00 pm

Ok guys! What was the first manga ever to get you into reading it? Aside from mainstream comics like x-men, my first was Zoids! Yea, they have it for those who don't know! I never finished the series becuase I couldn't find them all, but it was very good! I love zoids! ^_^

The first manga for me would probably be Dragonball that I read from one of my friends house who has all of them (and all of the Z ones released too).

Oh, mine was so weird. It was like the 9th volume of Sailor Moon. Totally out of order. I had no idea what had happened before or what happened after. You wanna know the odd thing? I LOVED IT!!! I mean I loved the art and what of the story I could decifer. And-- well, who wouldn't love Darien.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. A few years ago, I didn't even know what Manga was! Then one day when we were at Barnes & Noble, I saw some Gundam graphic Novel in the comic book section, I was like, COOL! I went on Ebay and bought it, and then I was totally hooked on manga! At first I didn't get why it was in B&W, but I know now that it's better that way and more artistic.

My first manga was DBZ, I do like it still. The manga is much better than the anime, and I think it ok. ( means it's not my favorite but it's not terrable) I'm proud to say I still read it.

I don't collect much manga, but the first one I ever bought was Ranma 1/2 Volume 1 after seeing the anime.

I was browsing a SunCoast at my cousin's mall actually looking at the anime, I stumbled across the graphic novels. But they were all more expensive than I cared to pay at the time so I bought the July issue of Shonen Jump, and that was the first manga I ever read... I guess technically the first title would be "One Piece", since I just read the magazine from cover to cover. ^^ After that I subscribed to SJ, and have been hooked on manga ever since.

I knew about manga before I read it, but the first manga I ever read was The Flipside. I didn't like it, and I don't think many other christains would either. Read Steelblood, an online manga. You'll love it.

Yeah, it's so sad when an artist has a style you like and a story you don't.

Zoids is a lot older than the first one they showed on CN... It started off, I believe, as a video game on the Famicom.

The first manga I remember seeing was "Bubblegum Crisis" It was very bloody, if I remember correctly... It was more violent than the anime. The first manga that I bought? I bought a bunch of issues at one time: 3 issues of Sailormoon, 1 of Nadesico, 1 or maybe 3 of Evangelion, and 3 of Pokemon... I later bought 2 more nadesico ones, and a TPB of Sailormoon SuperS. I was on an anti-anime phase, and threw them all away... I wish I hadn't, but now I have but one lowly TPB... No, I have two... I forgot about "Empire Strikes Back" but my primary one is Kodocha 1. I want to get them all, because that's the only way I'll get the whole story... I don't trust Funimation... I mean, Tokyopop can be bad, but they did a good job with Kodocha... I'm not so confident that Funimation will treat it with the same respect...

I prolly would throw away the sailormoon mixx comics if I had them now... I'll never forgive Mixx/Tokyopop for using the DiC names... I hope they get re-released with more accurate translations and the real names... Though, I thought that calling her "bunny" was rather clever... Still, I mean, what if we had CCS over here, and we called her "Cherry Blossom"? It would just sound weird... No need to translate the names... It's just not right. Besides, she's princess serenity, not princess serena... ok, I'll quit ranting... (BTW< I hate naoko's drawing style... The anime looked much better...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs Watch this movie なう。 It's legal, free... And it's more than its premise. It's not saying Fast Food is good food. Just watch it.
