Best Openings in American Cartoons

Postby Htom Sirveaux » Fri Nov 05, 2010 5:06 pm

As much fun as the "Worst Openings" thread is (and would certainly encourage people to keep that one going), I think it's only fitting to offer a "Best Openings" thread as well. Starting with . . .

The Tick
Beetlejuice

I wanted to add X-Men the Animated Series, but I can't find a video with sound.

Batman: The Animated Series. Always. XD

Also, THIS. I wish I could find a clearer copy of it; I really don't care for the Disney version as much. XD

I always loved that bit (about :36 in that video) where Batman's eyes narrow. So bada--.

I can't for the life of me find it on youtube, but Avatar: The Last Airbender, just because that whole show was awesome.

Any of the intros from Warner Bros. cartoons in the 90's were awesome.

Animaniacs
Pinky and the Brain
Freakazoid

And, naturally...

Christianity + Anime = Christianime. 'Nuff said, ja?

Phoenix Wright: "Stay down... This seems suspicious... I wonder who this guy is..."

Professor Layton: "Hmm... Why, this reminds me of a puzzle!"

Phoenix: "Wait, wha-!? Is this really the ti-!"

Maya: " Oh Nick, don't be such a fuddy duddy! Try out a puzzle! C'mon Professor, give him your best shot! Nick'll solve anything you've got!"

Luke: " Yes! The Professor only gives easy ones anyway. I am sure you won't have any issues!"

Phoenix: "OK... I guess, but don't you think-"

Maya: "Shh! Listen Nick! You'll miss something important like you usually do!"

Layton: "-Insert some insane puzzle/riddle thing-"

Phoenix: "..."

Everyone stares. Maya get's uncomfortably close.

Phoenix: "... Oh look! He's gone in to the castle, let's go after him and investigate! -Runs off-"

Now, for the Disney stuff. I am a huge Disney aficionado, so I am beyond ticked that Disney won't release most of their TV cartoons on DVD. (Oh, sure, we have Gargoyles, but only the first two seasons. They don't even want to release the Avalon arc!) So, as promised, here's my favorite Disney openings--in chronological order!
Gummi Bears Don't judge me! It was also the cartoon that introduced me to the genius of Rob Paulsen, one of the first voice actors I paid attention to. (He was also in Animaniacs)
(I also liked the openings to Duck Tales, Talespin, and Darkwing Duck, but you folks already posted them, so I'm skipping them)
Goof Troop--Well, Goofy was and still is my favorite Disney character, so of course I watched it.
Gargoyles--Keith David and the cast of several Star Trek shows as the voices. That is all.
Mighty Ducks--Such a shame this show didn't last. It had a kicking opening and best of all: Tim Curry was the show's Big Bad!

Mighty Max --Man, I loved that show. Wish I could find it on DVD.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Original Winnie the Pooh

I could not for the life of me find just the intro for the old Winnie the Pooh stuff. The link I provided is an actual episode.

Heavy Metal.

But that's not the real reason I bumped this thread, the real reason is this:

Rocko's Modern Life!

And that's the GOOD intro too, the original one, not that garbage intro from the later episodes.
