Playing nethack. Yummy ASCII.
Well, ostensibly playing. Mostly dying. I'm finally getting the hang of what's edible though, so no more death by rotten dwarf corpse.

Played some more Sims 2 and Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

I think I'm about 40% through Jak 3 - I forgot how fun Light Jak is! ^_^

And I finally got to the second disk of Xenogears, and...duuuuude. Awesome. I have now cried three times through the course of this game, so that either makes me an easily-affected pansy, or it makes Xenogears an awesome game. Or both!

Playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 (rented it yesterday).

Fun stuff so far although for whatever reason, the opening was weird, but it was cool to see Bowser as big as Godzilla. I've played up to the Spin-Dig galaxy so far.

I know that "World Maps" have been around forever but applying that concept to this game is strange, since the levels are considered "galaxies." In my mindset of hierarchies: "World" is not above "Galaxy" so would it not make more sense to call them "Galaxy Maps" or is it just me?

As in it's hideous and glitchy and has poor sound (not quite Conker poor, but almost)

Still fun, though. Fun to play with English subs on and Japanese voices, and see how "Aaaaaaah!" is actually Japanese for "My plane!", and while silence doesn't speak volumes, it DOES speak... According to the subs, anyhow.

Waiting for Shen Mue... Hopefully (unless MS secures exclusive rights to it) and hopefully Armada.

Yeah getting stuck on walls and stuff is annoying.

I don't remember having this much of a problem with it on the Gamecube though. Maybe there were problems in the emulation/porting of the game for PSN.

I gotta say... SOnic adventure has the worst trophies I've ever seen for a game... And that's saying something. They really phoned that in. There's NO progression... It goes from turned the game on type trophies to BEAT EVERY LEVEL WITH AN "A" WITH EVERY CHARACTER. Nothing in between. No interesting trophies, no platinum. Just satus quo or acing it.

As I recall, the Sonic Adventure DX was worst as far as glitches go. Slowdown was horrible and I died many times for no reason at all.
I'm playing:
Castlevania II
Sin and Punishment
Super Mario Galaxy (a few stars left with Luigi)
Sonic Heroes (which is pretty frustrating because of poor design)

Naughty Bear. I can understand why this game got some poor reviews (no targeting system, gimpy camera, etc.) but it's actually quite fun. Watching a teddy bear have a breakdown and bury an axe in its own face is perversely satisfying.Overall, it's kind of like Manhunt/State of Emergency/Conker's Bad Fur Day. It's almost difficult to believe it's only rated T, despite the distinct lack of blood, gore and swearing.

I got the new Castlevania game for PS3 and I've been playing that a bit. I really like it, though it's not without its problems. Still, a fun game, and Patrick Stewart is always awesome.

I'm even hoping that at some point, there'll actually be a castle. :p

Rented Dead Rising 2. Gosh, this thing is a blast. I may take a trip to Gamestop in the near future, trade in some old stuff and grab me a copy of this.

So, I, uh, acquired a copy of XEXEX, Konami's classic arcade shooter, and I've been messing with it. (It fell off the back of a truck, really! I mean, you wouldn't pass up an arcade cab just sitting in the street, would you? Yeah, exactly!)

Anyway, this game is beautiful. Not just "beautiful for its time (1991)," but just plain beautiful. Every scene of the game is pure eye candy, and things like this remind me why I prefer sprites to polygonal models - there's an style to it that you can't put into polygons (though TF2 has come close). Plot? Who needs plot when you're saving a blue-haired princess from a girlyman? What other motivation do you need from a shmup, some ruminations about the nature of war expressed by FMVs? This is the arcade era, yo.

It's the Japanese version, because apparently they stripped a lot of stuff out of the international version (which I've played before), like the weapons and checkpoint system, making it play quite a bit differently. The Japanese version is definitely the way to go.

The game is Konami's answer to R-Type, and they put every ounce of effort into making it so - every concievable component oozes quality, with tons of little touches and animations that make this game awesome. It's still borrowing from that platform of charged super attacks and shields, but it builds on it and makes its own game from it. It's a classic of the highest order; definitely worth a few...uh, quarters.

65% through Jak 3! I've just done a huge long string of missions in Haven, so now I'll check and see what's cooking in Spargus for a bit.

And I'm inching closer and closer to the end of Xenogears....

Hmm, looks like I never posted this, but I've been playing Resident Evil 4. Not usually my kind of thing, but it's been fun. ^^

The knowledge of a second disc is kinda daunting, though. XD

So, when I realized Halloween was coming up, I decided it was high time I finished Penumbra, which I had to put aside last year because it was giving me zombie nightmares every night (even though Penumbra doesn't have zombies <_<). I've remembered why that was the case, though; Penumbra is by far the freakiest gaming experience I've ever gone through. But I'm getting pretty close to the end now, so that'll be good. It really is a great game, one of the few where thinking and reacting as though you're really there actually works. I'll have to write some kind of review when I get to the end, because this is awesome.

Similar to the_wolfs_howl, playing a scary game for Halloween. Bet you can't guess what it is.

It is, of course, Silent Hill. I'm currently about 2/3 through it. Man, I don't know how many times I've played that sucker, but it never gets boring. There's always something I'd forgotten about that catches me off guard and makes me jump.

I finished Penumbra, and ohhhh man, it was so cool! You know a horror game is good when the very last second of the game makes you jump half out of your skin ^_^

But now that that's done, rather than going for the sequel (which was very tempting), I'm back to Jak 3 and Xenogears, both of which are inching closer to their endings.

So I just played and beat Republic Commando, which was just as good as I remembered. Definitely one of my favorite FPSs.

So I've been trying to play Jedi Knight II, and it's okay, but it's not particularly compelling to me. I don't know why, I like Kyle Katarn and I remember liking the game when I was younger, but it doesn't really make me want to continue. I think I'm going to go play KotOR.

also kinda ticked about Graces... (only mothership not being released over here is very disappointing, and I doubt the next will come either...)
