I'd wager Russia was worse... The only difference being they got away with it because their number 1 enemy kept it under wraps themselves, to avoid open war.

And Asian boy / girl bands (of the 2PM and SNSD variety) are just as bad as their American counterparts.

It's not really a fad. Designer clothes always exist.

And there is in fact a difference in quality for a good number of designer clothes. Clothes from Kenneth Cole are tailored better and generally last longer than clothes from Wal-Mart or Target. But if you're going for the simple pragmatic route, then it doesn't really matter.

Also, one awful fad that I don't miss at all was the bumperstickers of Calvin peeing on stuff. And then the Christian version of Calvin kneeling at the cross.
