Postby Makachop^^128 » Thu Aug 05, 2010 6:51 pm

Any fans? I loved this series and the movie was amazing! I was wondering if there were any fans of it here. If so what are your favorite characters? what did you think of it?

Definitely a browncoat. Captain Mal is my favorite character. It's one of the best TV shows on the planet.

It is most likely my favorite TV show :3
I like Simon the best lol and Kaylee and then of course Mal is awesome. Some how this show reminded me of Cowboy bebop which I loved sense I'm a huge fan of that. I guess its a Space Western feel lol I love it.

I love the series. I love Kaylee for her personality and the fact that she's super cute. I enjoy most of the characters though.

Liked the series. Did not like the movie.

^_^ This was an awesome show. Wish it could have gone on longer, but I like the way they managed to put the conclusion in a movie, rather than just letting it stop and leaving us all hanging.

It would be so hard to choose a favorite character! Kaylee was good, but so was River, but so was Simon, but so was Jayne, but so was Wash.... I found myself especially liking the relationship between Simon and River. Lost is the show that comes closest to Firefly, but the only sibling relationship there is Boone and Shannon, which is...kind of disgusting :/

Firefly would be just about perfect if they had just cut back on the sexual stuff. It certainly didn't help matters to have a prostitute as a main character.

I can't say that it was my favorite tv show, but I did enjoy it. The characters and their relationships with each other were definitely the best part of the series. Serenity just made me sad, really, but I was glad to see the story come to a satisfying conclusion.

EDIT: Somehow I forgot to mention that Kaylee is awesome

I'm going through it right now (just watched The Message), and I'm loving it. The characters are all great, and I love them all, but especially of Jayne and Wash. One of the best parts of the show is watching the characters bounce off each other, and that would've got even better as the show went on and the characters got deeper. Ah, well.

Totally agree it would be perfect but they hard to throw that stuff in. Kinda annoying.

I have seen this show all the way through like 5 times. What a wonderful show. I can't even pick a favorite character because I like them all too much.

The sexual content doesn't really bother me all that much, I guess, especially since it was relevant to the story and not particularly explicit (we are talking about a show that aired on television after all).

Anyone have any favorite episodes?

Shindig and Out of Gas rank as my favorites. I have a massive mancrush on Christina Hendricks, though so I also like the episodes involving Yosaffbridge.

That is correct, she plays Joan Holloway Harris in Mad Men.

Two major characters in Firefly also play in the V series, Alan Tudyk and Morena Baccarin.

Now they need Jewel Staite to show up in V and I can die happy!

Assuming we're talking about Yosaffbridge, I don't really like her either. Good for conflict, but not very likable. I can't remember the title but I really like the episode where they pull one over on her and she ends up trapped in a dumpster. XD

I also really like Shindig and Ariel. Honestly, the only episode I don't like much is the one with that creepy reaver guy. I think it's called Bushwhacked?

I saw the movie on Sci-fi(when it was Sci-fi) and have watched a few episodes on Hulu. Great show! I wish I had time/access to watch the rest of it

If it weren't for that I probably would have gotten my folks to buy the DVD for me birthday or something....

I hate it when they put that sort of stuff in,*grumble mutter could-ave had mass effect the year it came out grumble mutter* 80% of the time it's entirely unnecessary and the other 20% it wouldn't be that hard to get around. sell to a broader audeance instead of "pushing the envelope" all the time

I think that was the last episode I saw!

My sister and I were watching the series on Netflix, she's seen every episode at least once, but I haven't finished yet... got cut off somewhere in the middle I think... and then, she became obsessed with Bones. And I saw Serenity before I knew of the Firefly's existence.

"It's time you learned the chain of command. It's the chain I beat you with until you know who's in command."

I <3 this show. My friends and I watched it most of the way through the week that Hurricane Rita hit. We only lost electricity for one day, but the day before it hit we watched it and also when electricity was restored.

I can't pick a favorite character, it's just too hard to choose.

Firefly was fantastic, I watched it this summer with my brother and we plowed through it. My favorite characters would have to be Wash and Jayne, though Mal is pretty close to that too.

After I watched it, I wanted to go play Mass Effect 2 again so I could see Jayne do the voice of Kal'Reegar.

"I'll kill a man in a fair fight. Or if I think he's going to start a fair fight. Or if someone pays me too. Or..."

As far as the sexual content goes, most of the time Inara's clients had something to do with the plot. Yeah, the random lesbian scene was pretty much pointless, but the rest of the time it usually had something to do with the plot.

That's the way I feel about it. Also, I'm...a lot older than some of you, so I guess that's why it doesn't bother me much?

Oh, by the way, Serenity was my first exposure to Firefly as well. I was kind of in the dark when I saw it, but it was still quite enjoyable and finally convinced me to watch the series (people had been trying unsuccessfully to get me to watch it before). I thought it was just going to be some overhyped, dry, techno-babbly sci-fi show, but boy, was I wrong.

I'm with ShrioHikari, Serenity was my first exposure to Firefly. I loved the movie and i watched much of the show and i love that too.
As far as the sexual content. I would like it if it were non-existent but since I don't see it any worse than 99% of everything else that is on television. I don't think it has to do with age but more to do with your spiritual walk. One person may be able to watch a movie and simply fast-forward through it and have no problem but someone else may want to avoid it completely.

Actually, my first exposure to it was Serenity, which I didn't like that much the first time, but Firefly was at the library for free, so I figured it would be a good idea to give it a shot.

There's not really any technology in the series to babble about. It's more sci-fi/western than anything else.

I think as Christians we often view all sexual content in entertainment as intrinsically evil. But it's not. What isn't good, is when sex is demeaned, whether that's through making men/women sex objects or gratuitous scenes. I understand perfectly that we don't want these but not all sexual content falls under these categories. Just saying.
