Worst fad of all time

Talk about anything in here.

Postby Ante Bellum » Wed Jul 28, 2010 12:10 pm

I want to take the time to mention Jaws 3D. Not that I've seen it, but I've seen a review...
How about Webkinz? Oh yeah, buy an expensive stuffed animal for a limited membership to a website!
Also, when they bring BACK fads. Mom pointed out that a store was now selling leg warmers...

I did mean it in a collective sense. Though I suppose I probably shouldn't, admittedly. I guess 3D won't become standard for ALL movies any more than CG has become standard for all movies. I can't imagine that say, they'd make a movie like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in 3D, because there'd really be no need for it, same as there wouldn't be any need to put CG in it.

I'm still worried about it becoming standard for action movies though.

True goths never "grow out of it." Those that have been and "grew out of it" are/were nothing but posers and make it appear a fad. They also flock to every goth stereotype ever invented and exploit and flaunt them. Those people are the ones that look stupid being goth.

One can be a goth without piercings and having metaled up pants and purplish hair and the whiteface with dark mascara and lipstick. It's all a state of mind.

Nate, I think it's safe to say we pretty much all share your sentiment on the movie thing. Though I actually would be rather interested in seeing One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in 3D. I just wanna see the scene towards the end where the big Indian guy chucks the drinking fountain out the window. It'd be great to see that thing thrown at the audience.

Silly Bandz I don't really have anything against, since I rarely even see them. In fact I think the only time I have is one Sunday morning when I played with my church's worship band and the leader passed out Silly Bandz for the band (I guess there was a pun in there somewhere). So that was just good fun, really.

Speaking of Webkinz, there was a point in my little stepsister's life...ohhh, I'd say a year or two ago (three at the max) where she had seventy of them. Seriously. It still mildly upsets me thinking about it. :(

Yeah... that was my point...

What the is a "true" goth even supposed to be? I dunno. Labels like that are kinda silly. I don't want to be known as a "true" not-goth- just as me.

I realy had forgotton about Webkinz... or Scamkinz may be a better name for it, or maybe Webconz... not to mention the billion other stuffed animals being sold that do about the exact same thing.
My sisters are obsessed with them.

Also, why is EVERYONE wearing low rise skinny jeans?

I find gladiator sandals very... weird-looking.

So many popular things today that prove everyone's insane.

Really, the worst fad is trying to follow fads... trendiness just blinds me now. 0_0

(Side note: I am in total agreement with Shao Feng-Li and Psycho Molos' point.:))

Yeah, mullets were pretty bad. Rat-tail mullets were the worst and the sad thing is you still see them creepy around, sucking on the life-essence of some poor kid's head.
MC Hammer pants are both ugly and hilarious fun.

Come check my facebook fan page here If you want to see some great photography and art!

Low-rise skinny jeans are the bane of my existence. I have a big lower body, so to speak, and they make me look and feel terrible. Unfortunately they're the only freaking jeans I can find anywhere so I'm still wearing old beat-up jeans until this fad passes.

*is not EVERYONE* O:
I share the same trouble Shiroi does concerning jeans. Plus, skinny jeans just fit and feel weird. Like overly heavy tights. o.O I don't mind them being in stores for people who like them, but for them to be the majority choice, that's not cool. :\

Also, some types of gladiator sandals are cool. :D

I saw these in Thailand a few years back and was tempted to buy them because I thought they were only popular over there. But then it turns out people are wearing them in the US too. I was disappointed. 8(
And in those bright colors, they are terrifying. XD

Where I live no one wears them >.> To be honest I find skinnys really comfortable :3 I'm not really in to baggier pants because they don't fit me well at all, But I must say I HATE normal or skinny blue jeans. They are boring. I like color or something other then just normal blue jeans.

Ugg boots were never designed to be worn in public. They were designed to keep your feet warm within the privacy of your own home, or that of friend's. Please don't blame Australians for fashions mistakes.
