I try not to make anything that would require a candy thermometer (I have one, but it's temperamental), but stick to ones that I can easily create without worrying about burning. Like caramel corn (my brother's favorite! XD And no actual caramel required), peppermint bark (melting white chocolate in a double-boiler and adding crushed peppermint candies), and turtles. I have such a hard time with decorated cakes, though! I can never get the thing to look right!

Do you like to read anything? Do you have any favorite book series/ authors?

I may have to try making peppermint bark this Christmastime, then. White chocolate+mint (two of my favorite things)= probably delicious! Turtles and caramel corn also sound good...

I love to read, actually! I am a huge Narnia fan (since I was very little)....and so, my favorite author is C.S. Lewis. I also love his space trilogy (especially Perelandra). I have Mere Christianity , The Screwtape Letters, and The Great Divorce waiting for me on my bookshelf so I can read them as soon as I run out of my stack of library books. I also love Magaret Peterson Haddix's work.

[quote="Tamachan319"]That's funny, b/c I'm of the same opinion. I prefer Taylor as well, and I like certain Carrie Underwood. (I can't pick favorites]
Taylor songs (for some reason I like her sad songs more -- I like nearly all her stuff, but her sad ones are pretty):
"Cold as You" (Why does there have to be that one swear word in there?!)
"Breathe" (So pretty sounding!)
And, in the platinum edition of her Fearless CD (it's annoying that she does that, but I own the new version anyway. *is a hopeless fan*) there are:
"Jump, then fall" (It's a happy song, but once I set my CD player to be an alarm clock, and I woke up to the banjo BLARING. XD)
"The other side of the door" (Really, there's just this one line that I really like, for some reason. Expecting the guy to read your mind is kinda absurd. But I really like the line, inexplicably.)
And my new fave, "Untouchable". SO pretty! But why do I have to turn it up to hear it? XD

Carrie songs I like (I haven't got any of her CD's):
"Jesus take the wheel"
"Just a dream" (for some reason, all my radio stations cut off the violins at the end! Why????)
And her latest, "Undo it". Her voice goes well with the song, but I would like it even more if they didn't have the "na na na"s. Alright, you think he's a jerk and you're dumping him, but do you have to go neener neener neener?

Man, I must sound so negative up there. XD I do like all those songs, I really do! You gotta believe me! XD

Are there any other country artists or songs you like?

Random questions: have you seen any old (50+ years old) movies? Watch much TV?

Oh, I hate that Taylor Swift comes out with the "Platinum" editions later, too!! It's really irrating, because I really want those songs, but the CD I have is the "normal" edition!! I have listened to those other Carrie songs, and I rather like them. I was at the pool the other day, and I heard "Just A Dream" and "Undo It" over the radio. I thought, "Hey, that's the song FllmlNovelist likes!!" after a while. Hrrrrmmmm.....any other country music.........off the top of my head, nope. But I do like some random country songs because my dad likes listening to country radio occassionally. Old movies? Oh, I've seen a few, but not that many. My fourth-grade teacher showed us some Charlie Chaplin stuff (yeah, that's really old) and also a pretty old movie version of A Midsummer Night's Dream. (He read us the play, translated into understandable-for-fourth-grader-talk, beforehand.)
I'm a weird one when it comes to TV. I really love the show "Chuck", but it's pretty much done with. I don't really watch much TV otherwise---although, I do watch TV-on-DVD a lot b/c I watch the good old "Get Smart" episodes with my family.
