Let's play Oregon Trail!

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

This trip seemed a lot shorter on the post office wall.

And by that we mean 57 guys named Miles spaced sporadically across, coincidentally, 57 miles.

This guy doesn't even have a name. They could at least give him a name.

Unless it's Aunt Rebecca Sims. Again.

Hey kids, it's a river. Remember when we used to have rivers? I remember those days. Those were good days.

Good days.

I like the fact those deer are right there, not even afraid of these crazy settlers in wagons coming to take their land and eat them.

Anyway, glad to see you're making some progress along the trail. And that no more people (or oxen) have died yet.

Right! Because you can always hook two of the remaining wagon members up to pull the wagon! XD ... and you can eat oxen...

Donner, party of 50... Your table is ready!

But seriously, by definition, if it takes 4 days, it's not IMPASSIBLE. It's HARD TO PASS.

Unless the game meant you spent two days going down a trail, found it to be impassable, and thus were forced to spend two days going back thus wasting four days...

Or you fainted, and people had to carry everything you own around for four days until you came to, at that point wasting precious time and resources.

I think it means you spent 4 days trying to get around the impassible section of trail, or spent 4 days waiting for conditions to improve, like waiting for a flooded trail to recede.

Journal Entry: August 1, 1848-

As we left the impassible trail, we suddenly realized that RD has a snakebite. Having reoriented ourselves as the map indicated, we proceeded forward. Four days into our new trail, we discovered that it was also impassible.

Lord, guide us through this tribulation.

August 11, 1848-

I awoke this morning to discover my body covered in a rash. With my fever increasing, we identified it as measles. As we have not been in contact with the outside world, it was determined that the "Spray-o-matic" disease protections were to blame.

May God's judgement be just.

August 13, 1848-

A Shoshoni guide approached our wagon this morning. "God forbid that suspicious men tip over your wagon as it crosses! I will protect you, and aid you in crossing for the low, low price of 3 sets of clothing."

We accepted his offer, mindful of the "M" embroidered on his fine vest. As we prepared the Wagon for yet another fateful crossing, the guide haughtily chortled, "M will be pleased to hear that you have accepted my gracious offer."

With heavy hearts, we press forward. I pray that we pass this trial by God's good grace.
[font="Tahoma"][SIZE="2"]"It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things."

Hey CG, maybe you should turn that journal into a book like Laura Ingalls Wilder did.

Also, why was RD playing with snakes?

It's the Snake river. RD has a snakebite. One of these facts might explain the other.

Alright, so despite our rapidly declining population food supplies are somehow low. I'll fix that.

CHILL GUYS I got this. If there's one thing I think I've proved capable at, it's making stuff dead.

Be very very quiet.

I'm going to have this screenshot detailed on my Christmas cards to PETA this year.

Thanks for helping me carry stuff back to the wagon there Corrie.

I'm only, you know, keeping you alive.

Thanks a bunch.

Anything? Even the good stuff? :)

First, Indiana Jones references are always culturally relevant. Second, I can appreciate Cognitive's death. It is the symbol of the trail itself. You travel for no reason, and he dies for no reason. Very fitting, I'd say.

Perhaps in the future there will be...or perhaps there won't...or perhaps this LP won't be over anytime soon, making any sequel that may or may not have been planed (slightly...) have to wait until a certain individual gets back from Israel...thanks a lot Fish, its not like you have a life outside of updating this thread or anything like that.

Cogi! D8 R.I.P. You were a great trail log writer. :D
You can't die from measles, can you? But it's not like anything else makes sense in this game, though.

Also, RD has exhaustion from carrying all that food back to the wagon. Or from burying the dead bodies. >_>;;

They didn't bury the bodies. One was dumped in the ditch, another was left floating on a river, and now a third body was left in the middle of the road.
